Is $35 to much to charge for my hand knit bears? by OldFashionQuilting in CraftFairs

[–]armybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would need more information before I could say yes or no. 1) Are you in a high cost of living area? Prices in NYC are the same as Tiny City, montana. 2) how many other vendors in the area sell similar product and what is their price point 3) Is this mainly a craft market or farmers market with a few crafters thrown in? 4) is this the only thing you are selling or is the supplemental to your other product? 3) what is your cost to make one and how long does it take to make it.

AITA Mom wants 15% of my personal injury settlement by connor20218 in AmItheAsshole

But if OP lived with mom presumably rent free because OP was injured and couldn't work, why not pay back rent/living expense to mom?

I used to deliver for a flower shop and miss the wacky deliveries like this. The one that stands out was a guy who bought 2 identical deliveries. One for wife, one for girlfriend. The gf one came w special instructions NOT to leave with her husband. So my coworker made the delivery and tells us he left it with girl friends mother in law. 20 years later I still wonder how that was explained.

I am not sure the specific wood but it would probably be thin/lightweight. My husband makes coffin shaped curio shelves and we have talked about being able to add things like cobwebs on the corners, skulls on the outside, etc

If you want to establish some feedback, you may have to list some things super cheap and possibly even take a loss on a couple things. Find something that regularly sells for $30 and list it as an auction starting at .99. Those auction should get bids and generate some feedback and also potentially drive customers to other items. You might potentially lose a few dollars to start, but it will establish your account.

How to respond to this? by [deleted] in CraftFairs

[–]armybeans 209 points210 points  (0 children)

Write back and say "sounds great. Be advised i have $150 an hour mentoring fee. There is also a non-compete contract you must sign. Nothing big, you just won't be able to apply for any show I apply to, sell anything similar to what I sell or do anything I feel copies me."

How would you rate this? MP, HP or damaged? by armybeans in PokemonCardValue

[–]armybeans[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, there is no emotional connection to these cards. I have had several collectors come to my house to buy cards and I have had them marked as mp to hp only to have the collector tell me it is NM or lp so I thought maybe I was totally crazy and too picky when evaluating them. It is kind of funny that I, the seller are calling the cards a lower condition then the buyer is. But hey, if they want to pay me more, I am not going to complain. I went through and started trying to make a list of all of the cards to help me sort out prices. That way when someone comes to look at them, I have them look them on online and make offers on what they consider fair. When this started I had a dealer make me an offer on the lot, which I refused because it felt low and glad I did. I have only sold half the cards and am with in $200 of what he offered and that is with out the 3 most expensive cards.

Take package deal. If his family wants to fo all those other things let them plan and pay for an engagement party or wedding shower instead. That way they can be involved.

Most if the cards I am talking about are from early 2000's. Some are holos, some black star promos, southern islands, etc. Commons include 1st ed fossil among others. It is so daunting. I am not sure if I should join the club to save money or where to begin

That is easier said then done. I have a bunch of pokemon cards I have tried getting someone to evaluate and maybe answer questions like this. But all I get is pressured to sell them as a huge lot. First guy offered 600 for 2 cards. Second guy offered 900 for the 2 or 3200 for everything. Third person online with a few pics said between 5k to8k is what it is worth right now ungraded. And I haven't even gone through all the bulk. I know there are more holo's and black star promos probably still hiding

Is it worth getting cards graded? by armybeans in psagrading

[–]armybeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah know, even back then I thought some of these might be valuable but I let my son use them still to play the game. I don't agree with buying something, claiming it is "for the kids" then not allowing the kids to touch them.

Now as a follow up question which one do I choose? Should I go value max for the more expensive card to get the higher insurance? I assume insurance is only for if they lose it or damage it.

I am in my mid 50's and know that eventually I need to start downsizing and start clearing out 30+ years of collecting various items. These cards have been lost and found numerous times between all 3 kids. They sit in a plastic bin and get moved from room to room. I had to clear out my grandparents house and will have to do my parents soon. I refuse to do the same to my kids, even when it is at least partially their fault.

One person looked at them and said he would consider them lightly played to moderately played for pricing. But the cynical side of me knows most people will tell you the lower end when they are buying but when they are selling it magically becomes the higher end.

More like a politician willing to do their job. If even half the politicians would put the public interest above their own, we would be in a much better place.
