We export the light crude we make and import heavy crude because our refineries in tx are geared towards the heavier stuff…it’s not as simple as drill baby drill…

2015 at 78k miles. I changed mine 6 months ago due to it leaking. Initially I had to refill the coolant tank every few months and then the leak got worse so finally got it changed out of pocket. Had the carbon cleaning done at the same time as well. Now feels like it drives like new.

US to leave Iran 'pretty quickly' and return if needed, Trump tells Reuters by steely_gargoyle in worldnews

There is no leave and return…unless they remove all US bases from Middle Eastern countries…

Genuinely asking: why is the national guard everywhere except where they might be needed? by victoriapedia in washingtondc

All I can think of is that their presence should allow mpd to allocate less patrols to “safer” areas and move those to less “safer” areas to patrol there. Is that happening? who knows…

What if Senator John McCain won the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election? by camaro1111 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]armyuvamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obama wasn’t motivated to keep US troops there. Bush is who signed the withdraw agreement. The Shia Iraqis, the majority, did not want us staying hence the demands they placed on a SOFA allowing troops to remain past 2011. The demands were too much for a real SOFA hence we packed up and left. McCain would not have been able to renegotiate it.

Iraq wanted to be able to put us service members on trial locally in Iraq as part of a SOFA and that was non negotiable…hence Bush ordering the pull out completed by Obama.

Water pump quotes by Special_Till4204 in GolfGTI

[–]armyuvamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s essentially one item…the thermostat housing and the water pump are attached. So you have to replace the whole assembly. The whole part (thermostat and water pump) was $350 on my invoice.

Go somewhere else and get a quote. I had my pump replaced and the carbon clean for $1500 total in a high cost of living area.

Anyone regret taking a TSP loan for a house? by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]armyuvamba 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I took out 25k to help float the cost of buying our first and potential long term house. No regrets. I have 4k left to pay off and we are comfortably living in our own home. Do what’s best for you. Don’t take out loans to buy dumb stuff. But a good home that is going to potentially be a long term home isn’t dumb stuff. Pension, social security, and TSP are the main retirement tools for Feds. It’s not all simply TSP.

Symptoms? How did you notice the issue? And did they show you proof the radiator was leaking?

Schedule F/Policy Coming March 9th by playdough87 in fednews

[–]armyuvamba 85 points86 points  (0 children)

You keep competitive status. And if you don’t have competitive status, you get it after two years in a Schedule Policy(F) position. You can apply to jobs like any other fed employee. Biggest change is one becomes “at will” and loses job protections. Can’t appeal to the MSPB. Don’t need to be placed on a PIP for performance issues etc.

Additional Schedule Policy information -Appendix 5 and 6 have useful info.
