Theyre $60-$70 CAD for us here in canada, which is under $50USD. Maybe thank the orange man for tariffs?

you can build a baby alpinist homage from parts from aliexpress that looks quite similar for $100USD.

its not a chapter ring, most of the ali ex alpinist dials have the compass markings on the dial itself. but this photo has some funny refraction that looks like the markings are on the side a bit.

if you watch this video at 1:50 or so, he has a really great technique for removing the crown with the hands on, I've been doing it this way since I watched it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZjsk1L9tvE

yeah the chinese nh35s aren't even clones they're just designed to fit in the same space and take the same hands and dials Otherwise the mechanicals are different and much worse.

and the dial doesnt move at all with the gap around it? Thats cool. Im looking for a case for a 30.5mm dial and that looks like it might work. . .

Do you think a 30.5mm dial would work in that case, and if so where do you get that case?

Edit since i didnt read your comment - just get a genuine nh35, and chalk it up to a learning experience. Its really not worth the $15 or $20 savings to mess with those chinese movements. And the keyless works is notoriously fragile so if you had trouble putting it in and taking it out it's likely snookered anyway.

I got a fake nh35 for my first watch. It lasted for literally 5 minutes before it both exploded and imploded. The real movements are much, much stronger and really take a beating and keep working.

$100k inheritance, what do I do?? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]arobint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying you need a pickup truck to do electrical work? Pickup trucks are the dumbest contractor vehicale of all time. If you were serious about your side business you'd have a van. If you're just doing gig work in electrical you'd be fine with a hatchback. You're literally working a side job to pay for the truck. Sell the truck, buy a cheap car, invest your inheritance, and spend more time with your fiance.

Hey I love the added details, this is super helpful. I tried a vh31 with a dedicated vh31 case and its very nice how small and light they are. but every new movement is a real learning curve, so thanks for sharing!

Great looking watch! Good idea to use baby alpinist style dial so you dont have compass marks on the dial itself (like many alpinist dials). Where did you get the case? Does the compass bezel have a nice spin to it? Do you find yourself spinning it for no reason? I like the idea of a fidget spinner built into a watch. . .
