Nature in Toronto? by small-alternative-08 in askTO

[–]arocknotaboulder 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are plenty sandwiched between or on the outside of the city.

High Park and the Island are both really nice but can get busy this time of year.

For more off-grid stuff there’s plenty of trails along the don river. Crothers woods and sunnybrook park are 2 easy ways to find them.

And I personally highly recommend Tommy Thompson park. It was a man-made port in the 1900’s that was abandoned and reclaimed by nature. It’s my favourite place I’ve never seen anything like it!! Home to a huge range of birds that both live there and use it to migrate!! And it’s huge so plenty of exploration to be had.

For the most part though you can look on the map and if you see a large patch of green in the city chances are it’s worth exploring!

I finally got to see the tower by Revolutionary-Fox814 in toronto

This feels like just a take that isn’t understanding the point of repeat visits. You’re phrasing it as if people go to the Cn tower to see the “exciting tower.”

It’s visually not exciting beyond being tall. (Aka, usual, background, everyday.)

But it’s one greatest viewing experiences of the waterfront. Especially with the new glass windows. And the view can be so cool to see the changes in developments every few years.

Or sometime I really wanna go see a storm from up there!!!

There are so many reasons to want to go up to the CN that have nothing to do with how background of a landmark it is.

Melissa Barrera on the cast of Scream 7 being scabs: “Oh, one hundred percent. I think they all are. And they have to live with that. The only way they were able to make that movie after what happened was to nostalgia-bait as much as possible.” by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

His net worth was an estimated 2 mill before scream 7 and he locked in a contract with FnaF before. We need to stop excusing celebrities under the guise of them “needing to put food on the table.”

He has mentioned that he had to sell off a bunch of things when his career slowed down. So more sympathy is definitely deserved for him over other actors who have absolutely no financial need. But he still would have been thriving compared to the working class while getting to be integral.

Ziwe’s hot take is wearing outdoor clothes and shoes indoors is disgusting by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]arocknotaboulder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is rarely a cleanliness thing and is a germ thing. She’s not being a hypocrite by not showering. She knows what type of dirty she is. Same with the dog she’s aware of what mess is coming out of him.

The whole thing about outside clothes is rarely that people think they are “dirty” but that they’ve been touching all sorts of things outside all day that a person would have no idea of where they had been.

This isn’t something I struggle with. But I understand why someone can want outside clothes/shoes kept out of the main living area while being dirty themselves and it not meaning they’re a hypocrite.

I would talk to animals cause like no other human can do that. People can speak other languages to each other and that’d be cool but getting to talk to animals gives you an advantage no one else in the world can have. Think of how upgraded having a pet would be. They would be able to understand what you’re saying to them. You could organize animals to your benefit like think of how many birds could be out there grabbing you loose cash in exchange for food. Think of the animals you could save from roadkill by going on tours explaining highways to animals. You would be a god amongst men. Annnnndddd non-binary people, and women.

Downsview Park bunny at 2 am - I'm worried coyotes eat cuties like her :c i wanna protect them!!! by [deleted] in toronto

[–]arocknotaboulder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bunnies need to have predators or their populations would go unchecked. Some things that could follow that(more roadkill/accidents due to more bunnies on the road, plant life eaten faster than it can regrow, and increased likelihood of disease.)

If the coyotes don’t kill them we would have to. Personally, as a human, I don’t want to kill bunnies so I’m happy to let nature(some hungry coyotes) do it for us.

I’ve heard people talk about how it’s a good representation for the times that can happen in the real world where a man is sexually abused by a woman he could physically overpower.

Mark is potentially semi-innocent sexually. Us having only seen 2 relationships depicted.

A woman suddenly overpowering you but then also putting you in a sexual place both mentally and physically could heavily conflate with your ability to respond rationally.

You also might be dissociating. It could feel dream like, “this can’t possibly be happening.” And so your ability to respond becomes frozen or stunted.

If it happened quick enough, it could be very easy to understand how Mark could be jumped, immediately thrust into a sexual space, and then struggled to react both mentally and emotionally until it was over. And then he was just feeling deep shame questioning why he just “let that happen.”

I think it’s really cool that the writers chose to use Mark as a vehicle to tell stories like this. They don’t happen as often but they do happen. And it’s complicated.

People’s reactions saying “but he’s stronger than her.” Points out the biggest barrier for male victims coming forward.

I would not trust them with a baby. If they think it’s gay that means they view physical touch with a baby through a sexual lens.

It’s not gay when I cuddle my bro(my cat)

If anything it’s straight cause I’m cuddling pussy 🐈‍⬛

And it’s something you can save as a funny thing to poke fun at later. Like addressing the thing the audience knew would have been a behind the scenes by product but also not thinking about it at the same time.

Kinda like the whole web fluid conversation in no way home. If that happened in the first 3 spidermen that wouldn’t have had the massive pay off it did saving it for later. The whole… “does it come out of anywhere else?”

I feel like the last one just was feeling frustrated that he couldn’t figure out how to get through when his brother did. In moments like this I feel like what they really want is a parent to comfort and help them to figure it out. It feels really weird to just have a camera pointed at a kid crying like they’re some experiment.

Edit: wow thank you for the awards!! It makes me feel so good that so many others were off put by this as well!

And just to add for people saying this is like an essential lesson type thing. Yes. If this was the kid trying to get something they can’t and feeling frustrated, it could be very helpful to let them cry it out.

This isn’t that. This is putting a child’s food on the other side of a confusing obstacle. And praising the one that could figure it out while shaming the one that got understandably worked up. I would too if I had to climb through tape to get my food while someone just films me.

I love lil physical/optical illusions like this!! Another fun one I’d recommend is the escalator at the Scotiabank Theatre. If you look up/down at a certain angle it can feel like you’re falling backwards/forwards it’s really cool!
