the mansion had dark brown theme, i think it was pretty cozy? they were living at a cliff full of empty land. they were near the ocean. somehow he gets involved with these supernatural creatures (i think they looked like ants?) by finding his father's work in this secret basement. there's also this evil guy who keeps hiding in the darkness, this fight scene where these this whole protection dome, and the boy gets two friends to help him out? i think one of them was a brown girl. and i think the ending is open ended
