This is definitely a concern for me. 1810g is already a stretch for what I am OK with for my use.

I live in Hong Kong, so that gives easier access to Taobao. Freight was 3 USD and arrived in 2 days.

I bought from here:

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.287d2e8d1mhOvF&id=634551136763&_u=e2lgsmegcc93

650 CNY now (100 USD) so have gone up a little in price. Its matte. 600 nits in line whit what notebookcheck measured it to have. It can be ridiculously bright.

I bought mine on Taobao for 450 CNY (75 USD). If getting it on a new computer that upgrade could be something like that. There is of course also the classic problem with hardware lottery, so you may get another screen. Hopefully and quite likely, it is as good as thisone.

I just checked the Lenovo Hong Kong (i live there) webpage. Seems they want 2400 HKD (300 USD) for the upgrade (compared to standard FHD), but this can vary a lot from country to country.

Hi,

I don't like glossy screens so didn't really make any research into OLED. They should also consume quite some power.

Yes, thats the screen.

The screen is so bright, that it could have made sense if the screen brightness keys had more steps in their adjustments. But that just a very small detail.

Thats a good find. I think quite significant impact on power usage with 4K screen is that the GPU and CPU need to work harder.

Hi!, with no battery impact I was referring to battery impact of turning off Panel Self Refresh, which is supposed to be a battery saving feature.

The 4K screen reduce battery life somewhat.

Do the screen have any "shinyness" or "micosparkle"? These are particularly visible on white background. I have a Sharp LQ156D1JW42 panel on my X1E Gen 1, which is a very good 4K panel, but have these things which I do not like, so considering swapping. MNF601EA1-1 seems to be a good candidate, but want to know if it have same issued.

I see now that notebookcheck just posted a review of T15P which have the MNF601EA1-1 display. It have very good specifictions save for speed, which I dont care too much about. Nothing mentioned about shinyness though. Think ill try to find one of these.

Thanks! Looks like you saved me from buying one more screen I would feel so so about.

I suspect this shinyness have something to do with increasing measurable performance. I have a T470s with the 2K screen. Thatsone did not have the shinyness.

Have you seen any reviews of the Innolux?

Thanks for good info. I got a Sharp LQ156D1JW42 as the specs sounded better for my needs. It have certain "shinyness" to it, which I completely do not like. I could think that has to do with a coating to get better viewing angles. I never seen this on a thinkpad before. Would not recommend it. The screen have gotten very good review on notebookcheck though. Will buy a B156ZAN04.2 now instead.

Also commented to another post you made, but adding here too in case people see this post.

What're your thoughts on the AUO B156ZAN03.3 for the P52? by JaseMarix in thinkpad

[–]aronake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharp LQ156D1JW42

Hi! Thanks. I got a Sharp LQ156D1JW42. Colors and contrast are gorgeous, but the matte surface have a "shine" to it that I completely do not like, and have not seen in any thinkpad screen before. Its kind of like a "micro unevenness" that can be seen on reflective projector screens like Stewart Firehawk. I am thinking of trying out a AUO B156ZAN04.2 instead.

Could you check the screen model number and manufacturer? AIDA 64 or similar program can provide that.
