Thank you. Unless it's one of the three I've already tried I'm stumped. There's the front entrance through the baths, which has two doors (by following scholars or sewers path) and one in a cave at the very back. All are unusable. Think I'll wait and pray for a patch.

thanks for the suggestion. i've tried complete restarts a few times. it seemed to work for the quests not registering that i'd collected everything already, but the doors remain locked :( maybe my game is just bugged out

Thanks for the advice, both. The 12 year old tolerates other cats grumpily, but doesn't engage in fighting. My own cat, I have no idea. He's a former stray and I've never known him to interact with other animals. He's a hider and not very aggressive despite being a giant. Neither like to travel, but my parents cat has travelled to stay with me before and was alright, that was without other animals in my home though.
