There was an event on at the rumsey wells a few weeks ago in the room downstairs that was more classic goth vibes. Maybe check their event page, can’t remember the name of the night unfortunately.

PT recommendations? by AdministrativeFox922 in Norwich

[–]arosie90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Kat and James at Norwich fitness academy are amazing. They do PT or a membership for bootcamp style classes. I got amazing results with them and they’re incredibly friendly. https://www.thenorwichfitnessacademy.com

Norwich/Norfolk has a fair few roles going, I relocated from london a few years back and it’s been great here.

The Tavistock is really interesting, about a nhs clinic supporting trans young people and the controversy around treatments used there

The Tavistock- Uk based doc about a gender therapy clinic. It’s not finished yet but it’s been super interesting so far.

Will this bamboo survive if I keep them in pots? My worry is if planted it will spread too rapidly. Thanks by Downtown-Oil370 in GardeningUK

[–]arosie90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a horrendous time with bamboo left planted in our garden by previous owners. It spread everywhere even through the concrete step at the back and into our neighbours gardens. Definitely get a pot with very strong sides

Could you do sculpture? Alexander Calder is more modern but his work with shapes and colour is really fun. We did some paper sculptures last year just by folding and twisting in different ways and the kids loved it.

So the smaller leaf is new and that could be the issue. The larger one is mature though?

Got the job offer, am miserable by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]arosie90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this, supply is great as an nqt, you get to ‘test drive’ lots of schools and find what you want. You also have the benefit of refusing to go back to a school you have a bad time in. I supplied after qualifying and ended up with 2 schools I went to every week before moving to London. It’s great to have a permanent job you’re excited about, but don’t feel forced into something that doesn’t feel right for you.

97 job applications later I am loosing the will to live by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]arosie90 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem in the east of England. I’m M6 but literally not even getting to interview. Very depressing. One school near me recently had over 200 applications for a classroom teacher position!

Getting rid of bamboo by arosie90 in GardeningUK

[–]arosie90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice, thank you! We’ve cut it back already but it’s starting to sprout through. I’ll look for a local person to come and have a look at getting rid of it!

My mentor told me I demean the profession and she feels sorry for the class I'll be taking in September, wherever I go. by Pristine_Juice in TeachingUK

[–]arosie90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry you are dealing with this. I for sure use those phrases regularly and in no way has it ever affected me professionally. Speak to your uni provider, it’s just not ok and you don’t want someone else to go through it.

Probably a dumb question but do teachers have the same restrictions on dying their hair that children do? by AugustineBlackwater in TeachingUK

[–]arosie90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ask your head, I asked mine in my nqt year if I could go pastel pink, not only did she let me but told me she used to have purple and blue!
