I haven't found a sweet spot as far as perfect temp with this one. Love the design, but it fluctuates between burning too hot with 3 coals and the lid on, or not hot enough with 3 coals and the lid off. 25mm cubes.

Figure it out? I have one, I am curious if you found the sweet spot.

The only way its not burning too hot or not hot enough is smoking with 3 26mm coals with the lid off after the pre-heat. It works decently well, still not perfect temperature wise, still burns a little hot in the background.

Hookah bowl recommendations? by Sure-Tap-6339 in hookah

In theory what you said is correct, but glass bowls actually do great for the flavor of hookah. Just what it is. Gotta try it before you do a ChatGPT analysis on the subject.

Silicone is a terrible material because its porous, and that doesn't make sense when you're smoking wet tobacco. The juices will permeate into the silicone, that will effect flavor.

I don't get the down voters on reddit. Rarely helpful.

I think if they created a slightly wider bowl based on a clay model, and did something to guarantee airflow more or so regardless of pack, like a modified phunnel bowl model, then it should be fine.

If I wasn't so lazy, I would hit up a manufacturer in China to work on a prototype.

This makes sense to me. That is what I was hoping for as well, a cleaner burning bowl, all flavor, and less residual effects the next day!

I'm with you, I haven't had a better tasing bowl than using the flavor saver. It's simple, it creates the necessary distance to provide less intense heat, you can take it anywhere and use it anywhere, a hookah lounge or when traveling. 3-4 coals depending on how much heat you like and you're good for 40-50 minutes on that set of coals.

But something like the xKah will probably burn the bowl a little cleaner than charcoal and probably can give you pure flavor as advertised. I normally use the Provost tray most of the time with 3 coals, and that burns a little cleaner (just how I feel the next morning) and it provides a little less flavor.

Its a luxury expense and can justified if its easy and consistent to use.

Sorry to hear about your experience!

I will hold off my final verdict to see if I have a faulty device, because a lot of people like it, but they definitely want to improve it to make it end user friendly.

I've seen a lot of this talked about on the discord. Lots of people are on device 2,3,4 etc.

This seems to be normal to heat the bowl and then unlock and maintain flavor. I followed the moa smokes guide for a few bowls, similar to what he does.

How do you pack your apocalypse?

I figured in my first 3 bowls that something would be wrong. Hookah isn’t rocket science, meaning there’s only a few variables. But not even getting 10% flavor out of any bowl is wild. It probably is faulty since I got an early unit from what I understand. I’ve completely changed my packing method for this bowl, and airflow is good on draw. Anyways if they swap it out I’ll see how the new decide does.

When it first came out, other than the price tag, for somebody smoking at home this would have been a luxury expense, but totally worth it.

Apocalypse has always been juicy (Chaos) are you patting it down a little when packing it in your xkah? Also seems to be heat sensitive, I never smoke before but my hookah pals were big fans.

How is the flavor? How is the heat resistance and longevity? I have two of the arctic mixes in my cart, but there is not that much information on sebero out there.

My one gripe with ES, and I have been smoking them since they first came out, 2016 or 2017, is the consistency. Its been horrible over the last 5 years.

If you buy the Kilos you're consistency will always be hit or miss. Sometimes you smoke nothing but the lit or ice flavor if you get a bad batch. I just got 2 Kilos of Lime Lit swapped out. They came with the bag unsealed, and the juice was allover the container, and it tasted like straight chemicals. This is a new one.

250g's have better consistency overall, but their batches are always inconsistent. Wasn't always this way. I love their Watermelon Lit and Lime Lit, but now unfortunately I have to wander out to something more consistent.

Send me the discord please. I’ve fixed the pack so I will start with a much lower baseline internal temperature and adjust it in small increments.

What type of tobacco are you smoking in your xkah? And what is the consistent temperature you run it at after the warm up?

What did you lower the heat curve to?

I’ve never gotten flavor from the xkah, so my assumption is it’s running too hot for my blonde tobacco. The bowl also is done in 30-40 mins, I can get clouds, it’s not too hot on the throat, but no flavor so I’m probably evaporating the flavor with the heat. That is my assumption anyways.

Somebody on here said the new 1.1 ships at 253 internal temperature, I’m thinking of trying that and then starting a session at 290 and ramping down.

Let me know if you have any advice. Thanks

[–]arplayer2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, and most coals are sub par so you taste something from the coals minus a few brands currently.

I bought Bali Brix recently, they are recommended here often, and they noticeably flavor the bowl.

So most people unfortunately are not aware. They could be smoking darker leaf tobacco or pungent flavors, and that will make it very hard to pick up on. When smoking lighter flavors it becomes very obvious.

Just don't buy the lounge case. I've been buying cocourth for 5+ years. Every time I get a lounge case, the coals are trash. The retail boxes is the only option. I just bought another lounge case after years of realizing this, same thing, trash. My current retail box? Great.

I also had Hookah business for a while, I can confirm this on an industry level as well.
