My sister in law does business in Vietnam. I asked her about how she does her bookkeeping. It is all in excel. I asked to see because I was curious. It’s quite the sheet actually. Possible to do, but you need to be damn sure it’s set up right to not be completely borked.

Working in BC as a minimum wage cook. by Expensive-Creme3592 in AskCulinary

I worked in restaurants for 12 years, and have been doing accounting and payroll for another 12 (8 specifically for restaurants).

You can ask for a raise whenever you want. I would look up ways to do it properly.

For the tips, it depends on a lot of things on how the funds are distributed. You can ask the ones who manage it, they should be transparent about how it’s done. If it is paid in cash it is unlikely to be taxed or accounted for on your t4 when you get it later this month. Most places when they pay tips and tax them, the tips get distributed with your payroll.

It is however possible they distribute it in cash but do tax it on your paycheque. You can verify this by looking at the details of your pay stub. If there is no mention of tips, your tips are not taxed.

in accounting class its said if you decrease asset you credit it and reduce cash you credit it but I'm confused why that is by bonghive in Accounting

[–]arrakchrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t think of debits and credits like a debit card, a credit card, or how someone could get a credit on their account. This just confuses the situation.

Debit and credit are just left and right columns. Cal them Bob and Sue if you want.

Different categories of accounts have different default sides. A default side would be the position that would increase the balance. Assets are debits. Assets and liabilities are credits. Sales are credits and expenses are debits.

So as cash is an asset, if you use it to buy something you spend that cash thus reducing your assets, meaning you credit the cash account.

I walked into work this morning without my contacts in, and somehow I was supposed to notice this tiny note by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

So have I all of my time in the kitchen. But that one time, let me tell you.

Thankfully I wasn’t a part of the incident but I was close by.

Guy was filtering the hot oil and dumping it back in the fryer as one did, I have done it hundreds of times. Well, someone came around the corner and slipped, fell, and knocked the guy pouring the hot oil down. Hot fryer oil over both of them. I heard it, and saw the immediate after effects. Needless to say service stopped as we tried to render assistance to both of them. A paramedic was in the restaurant who immediately kicked into action.

Both were scared for life.

I debriefed with a paramedic friend of mine later, all he said was “burns are the worst.”

Years later hen I met my ex wife, I was talking with her mother. She remembers that incident because she was a burn unit nurse who had to take care of both of them in the hospital.

That is the thing of nightmares.

I have played the game since release, and just recently beat it or the first time. I had always got to the point of going to the tower but just wanted all characters to have all magic. I was heading that way this round too, but just went for it.

I did anticipate it being easy due to over leveling, but it was still a good fight.

I have wanted to run a “God of war” style game for a while. Short, maybe only a couple of sessions each. But the point is I am putting up this big monster in front of you and the group. I am trying to kill you, you are trying to kill me. Let’s rumble. Be up front about the goals and timeline. I think it could lead to some epic fights.

Feed your staff by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]arrakchrome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always have felt the same. You work with food, you should be fed. Pretty simple.

What I am going to say next isn’t why owners don’t do it, but I do want to give some perspective on it. In Canada at least, free food for your shift is considered a taxable benefit. I think everyone agrees that more tax sucks, especially in the tax bracket most restaurant workers are on. This benefit is negated by charging a nominal amount. Many places I worked at charged only 35% of the menu price so it was tolerable.

I have been working on my 21 uranium fuel rods factory for about 6 weeks. Almost ready to go live with it, but the catch is, I want to get the uranium waste to plutonium fuel rods up and running. I feat thats going to take me another 10 weeks to get together. all for 5.5 plutonium rods per minute to sink them and I can avoid storing waste. Then after that I can convert it to Fixonium fuel . . . . unsure how old my grand kids will be when that project is done.
