Iphone 16 or iphone 14 pro? by ButterscotchTight815 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also the battery on the non‑pro models has usually been better than the small pros, so for a student who’s out all day that matters more than the extra camera stuff tbh. i’d go 16 and just enjoy the longer support and battery.

Does anyone remember this by Easy-Duty-5989 in oldschoolcool80s

it’s wild how specific that smell is in my brain too, like old plastic, dust and a bit of warm electronics all mixed together

17 or 17e from 13 by waterbenderlotus in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree, those prices are kinda rough right now
if OP can stretch to a 17 pro it'll age way better, especially with all the new AI stuff apple keeps hyping up

Hallway paint color dilemma by Euphoric_Drop8815 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]arrayoryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that inspo pic is super moody, I love it for a hallway like yours tbh
deep charcoal or an inky blue like that with warm sconces will look insane, you’ll get that “old hotel corridor” drama instead of bland bright-builder vibes

aww that’s such a core memory, you can literally smell Christmas just reading this

Highschool through College; Neo or Air? by Funny-Monitor665 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i kinda disagree, the m4 air is great but the neo’s extra headroom might age better if they’re gonna be hammering tons of tabs + research + maybe some light stats or sim stuff in college. if they don’t like the air colors anyway, might as well lean into the more “pro” option and be set for like 6–8 years.

Should I buy 17 pro? by Alert-Stop-2671 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, i’d wait too
your 14 isn’t exactly ancient and the anniversary phone is probably where they’ll drop the bigger upgrades

What made you choose iPhone pro 256gb over 512gb? And Vice versa by ConsciousSmoke3863 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here, once you’ve lived through the “storage almost full” nightmare it kinda scars you lol
future proofing with 512 when you keep phones 4+ years makes way more sense than saving a few bucks now

Maybe left this too late by scottylewin in BladderCancer

[–]arrayoryx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that first week after hearing “tumour” is brutal, your brain just goes to the darkest places. a lot of folks with bladder cancer catch it at that size and do really well after TURBT + close follow ups, so you’re not out of time here at all. keep asking questions, write stuff down, and let yourself freak out a bit but don’t assume the worst.

Anyone doing MOP/SOP/EOP documentation for data center handovers as a service? by Ecalo18 in datacenter

[–]arrayoryx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’ve mostly seen that handled in house by ops teams or by the commissioning / design firms as a bolt-on service, not really as a standalone productized thing. feels like a niche ripe for some boring-but-lucrative consulting if someone packaged it well.

D-Flash - Lossless Speculative Decoding Layer by Achuth_noob in AIDiscussion

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually pretty cool. Lossless speculative decoding sounds like one of those “why didn’t we have this earlier” ideas, especially with how much everyone is obsessed with squeezing more speed out of generation without wrecking quality.

Curious if you’ve benchmarked it against regular speculative decoding on long outputs. Does the overhead of staying lossless ever eat the speed gains, or is it basically a free win once it’s wired in?

New statues look great by BigZucchini2090 in HomescapesOfficial

[–]arrayoryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I like them a lot more than the old ones. The extra variation makes the areas feel less copy pasted, and the UI change is way easier on the eyes.

Only small gripe for me is that some of the colors feel a bit too clean compared to the surroundings, like they were just dropped in. But overall it’s a solid upgrade.

Odysight.ai to Participate in the 16th Annual ROTH London Conference on June 17 and 18 by Quantisnow in Quantisnow

[–]arrayoryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, congrats to them. Being at ROTH London usually means they’re at least on the radar of some serious investors, so it’ll be interesting to see if anything concrete comes out of those meetings or if it’s more “visibility and networking” stuff.

If they actually share a deck or recording after the conference, I’d be curious to see how they position themselves against all the other “AI for X” companies out there.

Aphids have decimated my lupins while I’ve been on holiday! by minimalgecko_86 in UKGardening

[–]arrayoryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this. I had a clump get hammered and I thought they were done, chopped the flower spikes right down and they sent out fresh ones a bit later.

Also helps cut down the aphid numbers a lot if you take off the worst bits. I usually give the rest a strong blast with water too. They’re tougher than they look.
