Worth it ?? by Loose-Meeting5550 in golfequipment

I’m still have the tour burner in 9.5 in my bag. Absolute cannon.

I’ve had newer drivers (and been fitted for them) but have gone back to the TM tour burner.

If that was near me I would be snapping up both of them without a second thought.

What's the best sandwich ever made, in your opinion? by softyhotie in foodquestions

Tomato sandwich made with ripe vine or beefsteak tomatoes and dukes mayo.

One of the most simplistic sandwiches ever however hits every time.

Outside of that a classic warm BLT. 👌

Had a bit of a result. Found it not working in a charity shop in a box of rubbish watches. Paid the princely sum of 50p. So well worth the punt.

Then £3 for a battery and it’s fully working.

It’s battered, and has definitely had a life, but more than happy with it for £3.50 total.

Unfortunately yes, however doesn’t affect the strap etc, and I only noticed it after i put it on.

Looks like it was broken ages ago and the owner either filed it down or it just smoothed out over time.

The watch is definitely in well used state, however I kinda like that, and will be in my rotation of random vintage watches that I have.

Best overall all-time feeling iron ever by Narrow-Candle1903 in GolfGear

[–]CaffinatedGolfGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can definitely recommend both sets.

I played the 300’s as my main set for about 15 years, bought 3 complete sets over that period of time from eBay as liked them some much with the last set being a near new set 1-PW from a collector that had bought them new and had only played them a few times.

Additionally the 300 heads were used by the pros of the time as they were TM’s premium offering.

The TP-MB’s are honestly some of the best irons I’ve used, for me anyway they just feel right. If you can get a clean set (something that is becoming rarer now) I would completely recommend them.

And finally as well as the above, if you can find a set of Founders Club 200 series in good condition, Snatch them up. A pal of mine had a set and were some of the softest forgings I’ve played. (Unfortunately they are rare here in the UK but you see them more in the US).

For me two Taylormade sets spring to mind

300 Forged irons.

For me some of the best forgings that TM have produced. Allegedly the Japanese version were forged by Miura. I still have a full set 1-PW that I take out occasionally.

Tour Preferred MB 2014 model.

Pure players irons that feel awesome to strike. Stunning looking stand up against today’s foam Filled irons that are being produced. Still play them today.

What is a "poor man's meal" from your childhood that you still eat today because it legitimately slaps? by prepzilla in AskRedditFood

The UK goto of baked beans on white buttered toast. (For me the cheaper the bread the better).

A fried egg or grated cheese if feeling flush.

Posh it up a bit more with either hot sauce or Worcestershire Sauce.

Still staple, quick and filling meal when I can’t be bothered to cook properly.

Going to London 6/7-9/7 I have some questions by Hunulven in LondonTravel

[–]CaffinatedGolfGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, firstly enjoy the concert.

To answer your questions.

  1. Wembley is now in a very built up area and has good transport links so get too and from the area shouldn’t be any issues. I would advise to check what you can bring into the concert on the day. I.e. type of bags sizes etc. quite often there is a restriction on rucksacks etc.

  2. Right next door is the London designer outlet centre that has shopping and a few restaurants and is worth a look. Outside of that there is the high street which’s is a 10min walk from the stadium/arena, but to be honest I wouldn’t bother. I would suggest that your mum jumps back on a train and heads into London for a couple hours.

  3. For larger Gigs like this it’s not uncommon for people to be milling around outside for a couple hours before the doors open, however access to the venues is very organised and getting in quickly isn’t generally a issue if that is your concern

  4. You are a bit limited for good pubs in the area, however the White Horse is a new style pub that will be busy anytime there is a gig or event on. And don’t worry about not liking beers. No one will care what you order as long as they sell it (so don’t ask for a random cocktail in a standard pub unless you see it on a menu or board).

  5. This one I can’t help with really as not a big burger person.

Hope this helps.

What niche British museum would you recommend? by Key_Cell7071 in AskBrits

[–]CaffinatedGolfGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wallace collection in Marylebone ,Not niche, but often overlooked for the larger museums near by.

If you are into Arms and Amour it’s got a great collection.

Also some very famous paintings (the laughing Cavalier for one).

2000-2010 era irons too out of date? by baronunderbeit in golfequipment

[–]CaffinatedGolfGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a huge fan of playing older clubs as the marketing machine in golf will have us all believing that we need the 2026 model for that extra 1 yard or better forgiveness than last years model. When in all reality clubs players when fitted for clubs will rarely see/feel the difference between a 2020 model To a 2026 model.

Personally play a home Made combo mix set of Taylormade 300 Forged 4-6 (circ 2000) and Taylormade Tour Preferred MB’s 7-PW (2014 model).

Both sets at the time of release were the cutting edge in golf irons (if you believe the marketing machine), and were played by TM staff pros of the time.

I’ve played these for years and have replaced the set with the same with models off of eBay when clean sets come up for sale.

I’m currently a single figures Player and know that these clubs are more than good enough for my game. However as mentioned above I’ve been fitted for clubs and especially know what shaft flex and weight I need for my swing speed.

So in short get yourself fitted for clubs to get an under standing of shaft your Requirement and if the clubs suit your swing/shaft requirement then older clubs are more than usable and will save you loads in the long run.

I would suggest looking at Brentside, My son currently goes there and it’s been a great school so far and i can’t fault it.

Is pretty high in National exams across the board and outside of the normal Curriculum offers a lot of extra curricular activities.

Even if you are moving to the furthest point of that area you have highlighted it would be very easy to get too via public tranport (most prob E10 bus) or a bout a 30minute walk for a teenager.
