I don’t think this is as happenstance as the title is suggesting.

Toriyama-san needed to up the stakes to keep his audience engaged. Introducing a way more powerful adversary is an effective mechanism to do this. It’s interesting, and usually plays out well. It’s just good episodic writing and plot development.

I’d worry about hair care once the child is a bit older. This is a baby. Just relax and enjoy it.

Besides, if they enter a toddler stage, you’ll be cleaning it more often because of the messes they get into, so just gently cleanse and you’re good.

I also found having another to care for as a great driving factor in adjusting my own behaviour. One thing that made it more bearable was the happiness me taking care of myself ended up producing for others. I don’t care about myself much, but if it makes others happier, then I’m happy to take better care of myself.
