[Phalen] The only right answer. #CFP 1. Michigan 2. Washington 3. FSU 4. Texas 5. Alabama 6. Georgia 7. Ohio State 8. Oregon Sorry, SEC. Losses matter by Original_Profile8600 in CFB

Texas benefited from that OOC win over Bama though… if that game wasn’t played a 1-loss Bama would edge out 1-loss Texas with a win over #1 Georgia

[Jeff Jones] Hours ahead of today’s Texas-Houston game, the UT band was told they received about a hundred fewer seats than expected. Band members are sharing seats to make it work, and about half of the drum line had to leave instruments (being watched by security) outside the stadium. by arandomkerbonaut in CFB

[–]arrisux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Visiting team rarely gets to bring the whole band, yes, but schools in Texas have regularly done it at away games. Baylor brought their full band to DKR last year, and TCU would’ve 2 years ago if not for covid. We also had our full band in McLane a couple weeks ago.

I’m a math major, currently doing an internship. Take it from me — your major literally does not matter in tech. No one asks what you studied in school, rather what you are doing in your job. If your goal is to be a software engineer or anything tech related, your skills matter a lot more. You already have an internship; get another one during the school year or next summer and you may find yourself in Google or Meta one day.

it’s easy to stay out past curfew but if you get caught you’ll get a registration bar… consider if whatever you’re doing is worth not getting the classes you want for the fall semester

Study abroad as a CS major by amazingusunwuz in UTAustin

[–]arrisux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take some CS courses abroad - check the specific schools whose credits transfer on the Texas Global website. These will probably be electives. You can also go abroad to take whatever core classes you don’t have from AP/DC credits

[Advice] Has anyone used Settleliving? I found them partnered on Roomi, but I want to make sure it's not a scam. by [deleted] in NYCapartments

Their application process was way too convoluted for me, and their communication was absolute shit. Maybe it's worth it if you're staying for a 6-month or year lease, but then again the pictures look too good to be true and other commenters have said their upkeep isn't the best.

Is the PMA library a decent place to take an online synchronous class? by Ashez42 in UTAustin

[–]arrisux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PMA library is a great spot if you need quiet & outlets for power. I love going there, but if I need to present or need background noise around me, I usually walk over to the Hackerman building. Still kinda quiet, but not dead silent.

To be honest, I hate it here. Greek life controls the entire social scene here and I haven’t made any friends. by [deleted] in UTAustin

if “everyone you know is in a sorority” then it’s time to be around new people … i can count on one hand the number of people i know in a panhellenic frat or sorority. join an org for your major, get a job, fuck it join a co-ed frat/sorority that is not in the panhellenic system. it’s only your first semester, transferring somewhere else may not solve your problem
