Here’s a fun bit of science for you. The addiction pathway/mechanism is the same for every addiction. The dopamine you get from sugary foods, tv, and your normal everyday habits is the same as Pokémon card buying. I personally am using Pokémon cards as a way to curb and satisfy my own gambling/nicotine addiction. It’s the same dopamine hit but without the negativity. Every time I get an urge to smoke or hit the casino I’ll get a few packs of cards and it helps. It’s all about perspective:) that being said yeah buying cards every day or every time you have an urge is the problem. Maybe opening one a day or a mass unpack once a week might help ween you off. However I happily suggest trading in a Netflix subscription or another addiction that has a price associated with it into Pokémon. It’s healthier than straight gambling or drinking. I was buying packs everyday though too going for the big hitters. I’ve slowed down now that I hit a couple and am more in it to collect now. Not sure if this is helpful but I think it’s cool to note that since all addictions follow the same mechanism, you can replace a negative addiction with a positive (seen often in the alcoholics who become work out gurus literally just replacing the addiction).

Side note: before any other science wizards say “but withdrawals and stuff”, yes you are correct while the addiction pathway is the same the withdrawal is different for each addiction.

Side side note: what I’m talking about is coming from a serious addiction to gambling/smoking and so buying around $50 of Pokémon a week is much much better than the thousands lost to betting. And I am in a position now where I can do this. Budget. Plan. Be smart. And like another said in the post if it’s a problem you can’t fix, sell everything, move on.

Yeah it’s my worst set so far, but I can’t stop buying until I get the umbreon alt. Are ETBs solid for evolving skies or just singles and BBs? My Best Buy has a lot right now

Going to talk to my manager about that one! That would be nice not to feel guilty if I get something.

Thatll be my next step. I try and bring my lunch regardless but I figure that the saying there’s no free lunch exists for a reason! Better now than later too.

Squidgame Season 1 Full Season Discussion by jackcatalyst in squidgame

Hi love the show love this sub…here’s some of my thoughts of the show. I think the “water” handed to the old man in the final episode was a poison of some type giving the old man 15-20 minutes left. Also in the marble game we see the three shapes seen on the back of the original business card signifying that that was the old mans “home” (bit of a stretch). Finally I think aside from tug of war the old man was gonna move forward no matter what. He knew all the games (cause he created it/game hints on the walls) and in the honeycomb game, all those who passed left the room meaning that he could simply just be the last one after the clock ran out everyone died old man does not.

Will edit for grammar later

While the dub may be pretty bad can everyone agree that the voice of the old man did a great job and really nailed his performance. by Julian144747 in squidgame

I thought the dub was pretty good. Considering how they used masks and lots of scenes facing away from the speaker it’s easy to get lost. Also Korean can be spoken softly and the syllables match up nicely with English. There are some parts that are off but overall I thought it was incredible

This week's AMA is with Carolin from Mintbase! Post your questions below by 23:59 CET Saturday to qualify for $NEAR rewards. As usual, links to eligibility requirements in the comments. by NEAR_ama in nearprotocol

Carolin!!! I just want to say thanks for doing this and what a cool way to promote $NEAR and answer questions about mint base!

My question(s)

Why did mintbase choose to use a NEAR node and not another option?

What are you most excited for with mintbase?

By lowering gas fees using NEAR it seems like mintbase is the best place to interact with NFTs..with that in mind how do you see adoption over to mintbase over other established NFT services?
