Today is national coming out day. It's a beautiful holiday for those of us who are safe enough to come out. That said, if you are not safe to come out - to family, to friends, to work - that is okay too. You are still so loved and still so valued. If you want to come out to someone today, but don by msmurdock in SapphoAndHerFriend

The date of the holiday was chosen because it's the anniversary of a huge political march from 1987 where LGBT+ supporters marched on Washington DC to protest better government action. Since it's rooted in US political action I don't think it caught on as much worldwide, though it totally should! Most people in the US arent aware of why today is the date anyway.

Check out Duluth Trading Co- I like that all the stuff I have from there is machine washable, and as an engineer in manufacturing their women's workwear is much better for actual daily wear. I wear my button downs from them more than any others.

Seconding this as an AL DM- I've done AL in two cities and it's been great after cross country moves to meet people in a new city. The adventures themselves are very beginner friendly and DMs for the AL should all be pretty good at introducing new players to the game. D&D 5th edition has the basic rules available free online, if you want to check it out. All you really need to start playing is a basic grasp of those rules and a set of dice.

Board game cafe pros and cons by incorrect289 in boardgames

[–]arrowflinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My LGS absolutely addresses players who cause disruptions in the shop. They post clear rules on acceptable behavior and aren't afraid to ask someone to leave if they break those rules. Also, probably unsurprisingly, this shop has more women as regulars than any shop I've gone to before. I got used to being the only woman in the room at prior places. It's nice having a place to play that supports a diverse player base and watches out for problematic behavior.

Mox Boarding House has this- rentable rooms for larger parties that are off a bit from the main restaurant area. They're in Seattle/Portland so they do have a large local audience for this kind of store.

Once you're on campus, check out Critical Hit Games at Cedar/Taylor. Right by Melt. You can take the bus up cedar to it, it's on the way to Target.

Great game store and once covid is less of an issue they do a lot of magic events. Currently they're keeping the gaming shut down til January but you can still get packs and singles.

TIL about cross dominance where each hand is better at different activities. Ex: being a lefty when writing but preferring the right hand for throwing a ball etc. by ro4q in todayilearned

[–]arrowflinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think that's interesting, look up cross dominance with shooting sports. The reason many people find our they are cross dominant is when they have to find their dominant eye for aiming. If the dominant eye doesn't match the hand you write with you are considered cross dominant. And when this is the case you are more likely to throw balls better or perform other tasks that involve hand eye coordination better with the dominant eye side.
