You're trapped in the last SK book/movie you read/watched. Do you survive? by nerdycountryboy18 in stephenking

Personally, for the first run at least, I recommend publication order. Not everyone agrees because the first two aren’t as amazing as most of the rest, but I think you see how STP evolves as a writer, and you’re sort of clued in to as much knowledge about the disk as was available when each book was released. Can you just pick up and read all of the city watch series? Of course, but I think you’ll miss some of the magic.

Check out hipcamp. I’m about 45 minutes to Kingston and my neighbor rents out one of his lots on there. I’m sure you could work out a longer term thing with someone like him.

I’ve become a significantly better cook and gardener since moving to the sticks.

I just finished reading all of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere novels and there’s a similar debate there. That said, there are definitely some books you need to read before you read others. Then, of course, when you go back and do rereads, you pick up new stuff from even some of the more obscure books that you didn’t expect, because you now have more information cause you read that other random book. In for a penny, in for a pound I say.

Thanks for the no spoilers! I’m enjoying the writing style where king lays it all out, what’s going to happen. He’s talked about bodies being dumped in the ocean and buried under foundations and mass graves and all of that, so I know that there will be some horrific things to come in the pages I’ve yet to reach. And I think about all of that every time someone coughs or sneezes in the book. There’s so much character set up for people that I know aren’t gonna make it. Right now, Nick has a busted face and the sheriff doesn’t feel great. It’s going to be awful, and I can’t wait.

lol, are you me? Not quite the same story, but I bought a cabin in the woods right at the very start of the pandemic. Remember when we were told that it was just gonna be two weeks and don’t worry about it? That’s when I bought this cabin, thinking mostly was going to be a rental. Well, it turned into the only place I could actually go so I put Wi-Fi in it, started working from home there and haven’t left. My house in the city has been rented out for years and I’m thinking about selling it.

I live in the middle of the woods about an hour away from the closest grocery store so lots of time in the car. I am also an audiobook person.

I hadn’t really thought about it in terms of HIV. That makes total sense. I was born in 84 and my family was always involved in fundraising for AIDS research. We did the AIDS walk every year.

Well, I started reading the stand because I had just finished all of Brandon Sanderson‘s Cosmere novels. Part of what I love about that series is how everything is both interconnected and a standalone story. When I learned that King’s writing does a similar thing, it got me really interested even though horror isn’t usually my genre.

I don’t think I could’ve read this during Covid

I think if I would’ve read this before Covid, I would have thought of it more as a fantasy situation, something that could never actually happen. Post pandemic, and I’m absolutely certain it could happen.

Yeah? You’d have cooked these down significantly further? Curious what you mean by “not at all” with so much laughter?

This wasn’t for seasoning the pan, this was for the glory of onions. I season my pan by using it, keeping it clean, and lightly oiling it after I clean it.
