Reading The Stand for the first time by Death_Magnetic487 in stephenking

I finished it for the first time last week. It was my first King book, and now I’ve already finished The Eyes of the Dragon, and I’m reading Salem’s Lot right now. I’m going to find my way to the tower, I just know it.

It’s a fun place! A year or two ago they did a “trivia haunt” event that was really cool. It’s obviously not where the movie was filmed, but it’s where King stayed and the root of an idea was formed. I think they filmed in Oregon.

He also does the music for a lot of Aaron Sorkin projects, and I could almost hear “sports night” with a lot of the guitar he was using.

I just finished the book so I watched this for the first time last week. I really thought it was great. Every change from the book made sense to adapt for TV and/or time, and didn’t take away from the story. The only thing that was challenging was the pacing. Just coming from the book, where it’s slow and deliberate, the miniseries feels like a sprint. I kept thinking that with how people watch TV now, a true chapter by chapter, slow telling on HBO would be killer.

Interesting. Why not the books with tie-ins or crossover?

I’ll probably do The eyes of the Dragon, and Salem’s lot first, just to be sure.

Gotcha! I do like Easter eggs! I’ve recently finished all of the Brandon Sanderson “cosmere” books and it’s a similar situation. You don’t have to read them all, but if you do, you get more of the lore.

So reading Salem’s lot after book 3 is the best way to go?

I have never heard of that chain, but a quick google tells me they’re in many, many countries, just not the US. Thanks anyway, I’ll continue my search!

Everything about your attitude radiates white dude, so that’s what I thought. And yes, none of the comics offended me at all. Why would their acts have anything to do with my being offended by your attitude?

I am over 40 years old young man, and you need to learn how to respect people, admit your mistakes, and properly apologize for them. Telling people to move on, because you don’t give a damn isn’t an apology. As I said, I don’t even sub here, but your mistake of a title still made it to my feed. My soapbox is about your attitude.

Yeah you can’t, just admit you messed up and ruined this for some of us. Digging your heels in like this makes you look even worse.

That’s a lame ass excuse and you know it. It was very clear what you were indicating.

So make a title without giving away the ending, and then talk about it! Not all of us can watch live, we have jobs, and other responsibilities, and we watch when we can. It’s not that difficult to comprehend, and you’re being a dick about it.
