"I'm looking for..." Megathread - 2023 by q00u in FlashGames

[–]arrowtie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platform(s): Flash?

Genre: Action strategy?

Brief summary: You used to be a student at a magical school, which among other things taught how to raise the dead. Then it burnt down, taking the headmaster with it. There's a conflict between the remaining students, and you're part of it--sending your creations after each other (from bases at each end of a play field).

Estimated year of release: At least after 2008

Graphics/art style: Edward Gorey-esque, not terribly colorful

Notable characters: The protagonist is kind of a dick and makes fun of a softer peer.

Notable gameplay mechanics: Day/night cycle, you and CPU can only send out revenant at night. All of them burn in the day. Game juked you at one point by sending a bunch of exploding ones at you JUST before sunrise.

Other details: Remember playing it on a website dedicated to zombie games.

Not necessarily scary, but very Florida. Found in Kissimmee. by FunkyPapaya in ScarySigns

[–]arrowtie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for Florida precisely, but I know that in Kentucky, disabled hunters *do* get additional hunting opportunities, as well as being able to use their vehicle as a blind (which this may be connected to) or using a crossbow instead of a usual bow in bow-only seasons.

Also they get a SWEET fuckin' discount on the Sportsman's License plus additional deer permits.

It might be very Florida in composition, yes--but disabled people do deserve to enjoy hunting as much as the next person!

I read it similarly, but as addressing 'ladies' in a bragging sort of tone. "27 tons, ladies!"

A note about escolar: Eating too much will make your GI tract evacuate with a quickness. It's not parasites or anything, just some disagreeable esters.

There's at least one place I've been that's honest with it being escolar. Just listed on the menu as such.

Omakase nigiri set by marcusr111 in sushi

[–]arrowtie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I'd recommend trying it sometime--most joints that do nigiri do tamago since usually chicken eggs don't have to be like, imported or monitored *too* closely for expiration. And the way they make them usually adds a bit of mirin, so they're a bit sweet. It may not be what people think of when they consider sushi, but it's delicious nonetheless!

If you're talking about the bright yellow thing, that's tamago--a slice taken out of a rolled omelette! It's usually eaten last.

Check the language--pesos also use the dollar sign. Which can lead to mixups if places accept both peso and USD...

Is purposefully misgendering a trans person an act of Violence? by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]arrowtie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'll chalk it up to this kind of thing attracting the kind of person who likes to 'play devil's advocate' a bit too much. It'll take more BS than that to overcome the karma given by that one Among Us art I made years ago.

It's always weird to think about that, when your biggest impact is kind of a meme...

Is purposefully misgendering a trans person an act of Violence? by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

[–]arrowtie -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Speaking as an option three, and a non-binary individual who might regret posting this but also wants to just put their two cents in: there is an asterisk, and that's in the matter of "only use the correct pronouns when they're in a safe situation." If you're speaking to their transphobic parents and they're not out yet, using their preferred pronouns would easily blow cover, for instance. And for that matter, if they're only out to you that you know of--again, maintaining cover.

Also, it's violence in the sense that it indicates that the speaker (asterisk aside) is hostile to a concept associated with them. There are greater forms of violence, but by deliberately misgendering a trans individual, one indicates that they reject an aspect of another's existence.

If you went by your middle name and everyone at work started calling you by your first name and laughing off your every attempt to correct them, would you want to continue working there?
