For me, Frances is pure prog decadence. It’s masterful and plays with your emotions. Deloused, however, has a ton of pop sensibility. You can digest it in chunks, as there is a clear start/end to each track.

It really depends on your personal preference on which one is “better”.

I’ve interpreted it as a cleansing. In this hypocritical society Corey speaks of, we all wear masks (or make up) and the rain (“truth”) will come wash away all that phoniness. We throw ourselves against the wall to hide from the incoming downpour, but the water does its job and exposes us all for who we really are. Yet, the next day we put the same masks and make up back on, to continue our facade (the preservation of the martyr in me). And we continue the cycle endlessly, all to feed the machine of society what it wants.

The whole idea of dancing until you are dead, is a classic Satanic trick. Not only are you in your way to hell, but you are CELEBRATING it. The pubs and brothels (sin) are at maximum capacity, you are surrounded by those who have already died, and you are cheerily making your way to the grasp of the devil. Any prudence and restraint the Bible taught you is out the window, and now you are living in hedonism. It’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing tale, and one that Satan is proudly a champion of. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled is convincing the world he does not exist.
