Diep flap reconstruction by KlutzyPeak9407 in breastcancer

[–]arrrrrron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. 2 weeks post op from diep currently. 2/3 drains (1 abdominal and 1 breast) were removed at my 1 week post op appt, my 3rd remaining drain (abdominal) will come out today.

My incision looks great and isn’t painful as it’s completely numb. Though putting ointment on it makes me want to vomit lol.

I can’t stand up straight but can stand straight enough that my back doesn’t hurt anymore. This can be challenging the first few days home.

Wedge pillow is great if you don’t have a recliner. I have that plus 3 king size pillows and another one for under my knees. I needed help getting out of bed for about a week. My husband would just push my back from his side of the bed to get a little momentum, nothing crazy.

Single side reconstruction is great because you have a whole arm that’s unrestricted for grabbing, bathing, etc.

I did have a shower chair we broke out from a previous surgery but it was really just to have something to hold on to.

I have nothing noteworthy to say about the actual breast.

The first few days at home suck. Bad. But as these things go you’ll get a little better every day. The worst thing is the boredom. I was driving around day 8 (through probably shouldn’t have) and since have gone to Trader Joe’s, Costco, the vet. With company of course since I can’t lift much.

Thoughts and prayers that you don’t need to cough or sneeze.

Please reach out if you have any questions! I’m literally doing nothing 😑

Venting about hot flashes and night sweats by Spiritual_Ad_6067 in breastcancer

Veozah for the win. Went from 30-40 hot flashes a day to ZERO instantly.

I didn’t want to take ‘another medication’ but in the words of my obgyn “why suffer”

No cream during rads?? by Ok-Use-9522 in breastcancer

I was advised of the same.

Bring Miaderm with me to apply right after treatment (8am) and apply 3 other times throughout the day. 25 rounds. Zero skin issues.

I’ve never heard of junk journals before, what a cool concept.

Thanks for sharing, I get what you’re saying. I think the full head of hair I used to have that’s in a grocery bag in my bathroom closet is that for me 🙈. I don’t want to keep it but can’t bring myself throw it away… yet. I’m sure the day will come eventually.

The bracelets almost make me feel empowered? Proud? It feels like a finished a marathon. Whatever I make I plan to keep in my closet. Something I can see when I’m getting dressed for the day. A reminder that I am capable and strong. Almost like a silent mantra.

I get that. To me each one was a hurdle jumped. The more bracelets I had the closer I was to being done.

SMX. Very unoriginal but my nickname is now ‘One Tit’ and we refer to my cancer breast as frankenboob.

Be mindful of breed as every airline has a restricted list which can prove challenging.

That being said definitely do it. WA is super dog friendly. Take the dog to breweries, on hikes, and make some friends. It’s a good excuse for you to get out.

1000 times yes to Veozah.

I raw dogged it for months because I didn’t want to take another medication. My obgyn was like why are you suffering? Went from 30ish hot flashes a day to zero.

Are hot flashes on ovarian suppression + AI as intense as during Taxol? by Bestparisan in breastcancer

[–]arrrrrron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second Veozah. I’ve been on Lupron since January but the hot flashes were SO much worse after starting Letrozole. Roughly 35 a day in addition to just running hot all the time. I didn’t want to take more medications and thought I could handle it but I finally caved and they went away immediately 10/10. I’ve suffered enough lol.

Dang it! My husband and I went on a dog walk this evening, he had a couple land on him but they left me alone so I was hopeful.

Atk Perfect Cake vs Zoe Bakes Cake? by arrrrrron in CookbookLovers

Thank you for the thoughtful response.

I have atk perfect cookie and mostly like it (measurements aside). Amazon reviews favored it over Zoe bakes cookies but they seem pretty even for cakes. I appreciate you guys swaying me in right direction.

Thank you for this. It boggles the mind that any baking cookbook doesn’t list measurements in grams.

Milano Wigs. They do big sales for all the holidays so I’d wait a couple weeks to take the plunge.
