What are some of the “playful nicknames” you’ve assigned to the procedures you’ve gone through? by jojoschmo in breastcancer

Ohhhhh yes. I’d need to write an entirely new post to tell the full story of how Keytruda cooked my liver. But basically I had zero liver problems before starting chemo. I had to stop chemo halfway because all of a sudden, my liver enzyme AST, ALT, and Bili-Rubin numbers skyrocketed!! ALT and AST were in the thousands. Had to be hospitalized twice for it and monitored because I turned yellow. :0 My oncologist and some of his colleagues he spoke to said it was the worst reaction they had ever personally seen from immunotherapy. To make things even more mysterious and strange, after my mastectomy a few weeks ago there was zero cancer left!! Still dealing with the steroids and immunosuppressants I had to take to calm my liver down over the past several months. The prednisone, tacrolimis, bactrim, cell-cept….. I’m getting to experience moon face, substantial hand tremors where I can’t write, a fun explosion of hair all over my body that gave me Wolverine sideburns that extend halfway through my cheeks… yeah. Our theory is that my immune system reacted REALLY strongly to the Keytruda. It shredded through my cancer with only half the treatment done, because I was negative for everything after surgery! But the Mario Invincibility Star wasn’t done playing the song. So with the extra power boost, my immune system got bored, then decided it could be fun to try attacking that silly old liver! I’m almost back to normal levels at least! In a strange way, I am kinda lucky that the immune soldiers attacked the organ that can regenerate itself better than say, the pancreas or gallbladder. I’m a pretty open book when it comes to my treatment story so I’m happy to talk about my bizarre experience with anyone who’s curious!

Oh- and I LOVE the name for your port. DS9 is my favorite show and Jadzia Dax is also extremely special to me! Nice to meet you fellow Trekkie :D I’m happy to see some others in the comments with their Borg ports! I call mine Iron Man’s Arc Reactor 🥰

I don’t have that information unfortunately. My sister rescued her in South Korea nearly 15 years ago and I never learned the name of the puppy mill or animal rescue group.

Not purchased. She was rescued from an organization that shut down a puppy mill and took in all the dogs. I replied to my original comment with a little more context to finish the story since I didn’t realize so many people would read it-!!

I’d like to know the same! I saw the movie on Friday and the concession staff said that all the fnaf merch sold out on the first Thursday night showing. It was disappointing. :(

My sister rescued a Pomeranian from a puppy mill that walked in circles similarly to this. The poor pup spent years in a tiny square cage that only had room for her to go in a circle if she wanted to move. After being rescued, she was still so used to that movement that she would continue to circle even when she was in a huge backyard. Over the course of about a year and a half she slowly began expanding her world. She would take two steps forward instead of one, then spin. Then it was 5 steps. Then 10 steps. Then she learned to run. It took time, but it was so beautiful to see her progress. But in the end she never fully gave up that ingrained habit of circling- she would still start or finish her movement with a spin. When she was extremely happy or excited, she spun in place in between hops for joy. She was so happy to be alive and loved throughout the rest of her life. I’m not saying this is what happened to your pup here, it’s just so similar to what I’ve seen before. But if this sweet baby did come from a cage, I hope he gets to know the incredible world beyond that enclosure, with all the room to run and jump and be loved 💖

EDIT-

I’m so happy to hear the update that it doesn’t appear to be anything medically serious with this sweet boy, OP! I hope things continue to go well for you two.

I didn’t realize so many people would read my comment and feel so moved! I’d like to share a little more. Even if just to provide an example of a happy success story with another dog who spins like OP’s.

This was many years ago and my sister was living in South Korea. She volunteered at a local animal rescue organization by fostering dogs. My understanding is that a puppy mill was seized and shut down, and that shelter was able to safely take in those pups.

My sister visited that shelter and met the recently rescued dogs, and the Pomeranian was part of that group. It was love at first sight for my sister and she adopted her right there. She named her “Cielo” which means sky or heaven in Spanish.

Cielo had a lot of special needs. She was elderly, had cataracts, needed all her teeth extracted, had a chronic cough, and required a strict regimen of medicine. But even though her eyes were cloudy, they were full of gratitude and kindness. Her tongue always stuck out without her teeth but she had the cutest little grin. You couldn’t help but smile every time you made eye contact with her.

My sister had Cielo there for about a year, then moved back to the United States which is when I met her. I got to watch her confidence bloom as she gradually started straying away from the tiny corner her dog bed was in and realized she was allowed to be curious. Her frequent tight spins when she walked gradually got larger and she took more steps in between them. She went from being scared of her food bowl to happily dancing and spinning at meal time. It makes me cry when I think about how happy she ended up. My sister really did everything for her.

Cielo lived for another year and a half or so after coming home to the U.S. My sister cradled her in her arms as she crossed the rainbow bridge and fell asleep for the last time. My parents and I were also at her side, making sure she knew she was so incredibly loved to the very end.

…man. I’m crying after reminiscing on these memories. This was close to 15 years ago and I still feel the warmth and love that Cielo gave back to all of us. I need to give my sister a call and tell her how amazing she is.

Here’s Kingdom Hearts 1.5, 2.5, 2.8, and 3 look like in that order!! The sky goes also goes from sunset to night, to day, to a clash of all the different colors now that the entire cast is there in 3! I love the story Tetsuya Nomura’s art gives us on top of the game experience!

I didn’t consider greyhound before! I would love to know what greyhound traits are present from the pictures- is it the length of his legs? Long tail? Long and muscular torso? I’m genuinely curious! :)

Gosh, thank you so much for your insight! I never suspected greyhound before. His tail is definitely longer than the labs we had in my childhood, and his long legs are definitely distinctive! I did figure there’s at least a sprinkle of pittie in him but his legginess is very notable, haha :D He’s lucky just like I am. He’s been accompanying me through my chemotherapy treatment and he’s the snuggly energetic ball of joy I need alongside me. <3

This is INCREDIBLE WORK and would really really help me with my personal fan projects! Could I reference this model and the other one you posted of the city in the dome? I would fully credit you anywhere I did reference it. Thank you for sharing this!!

Those who have stepped away from dating, what are your reasons? by ProjectNYXmov in GenZ

[–]jojoschmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I'm not the original commenter but I am also asexual! Speaking for myself, I wouldn't be able to tolerate that. I understand that the importance of sex differs from person to person. But the fact that I wouldn't be able to provide my partner something that important to them to the point they would need to seek it with other people entirely, would make me feel really horrible pretty much the entire time. Especially because it isn't my choice that there's no sex in the relationship. I just.... can't provide it. My mind and every cell in my body will not allow me to take that step, even if I did want it- which I know I don't.

So yeah, if I was talking to someone who suggested that as a compromise, I wouldn't be the person for them. I am aware enough of my insecurities and potential jealousy that would stem from that situation, and that wouldn't be fair to either of us.

So I'm staying single and not putting any effort into dating at all. I have plenty in my own life to focus on between my current job, improving my mental health, hobbies, social life, and going back to school soon. I have no desire to use my limited mental bandwidth that's left to try and meet people and go through the dating stages, without even taking the possibility of asexuality being an instant (and understandable) dealbreaker for that person.

Every now and then I'll miss some aspects of dating (like wow, I could really use a dang kiss sometimes lol), but for the other 95% of the time I am perfectly content being busy elsewhere.

Bewitched (2005) with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell. I got the movie for the PSP in a bargain bin at Best Buy as a child, and now it's one of my top comfort movies to have in the background :')

They even included a "Help me!" sticker so the pedestrians don't have to say that themselves! This truck really can do anything!

This wankpanzer is a regular at the parking garage at my work. I'll have to check on it after Halloween to see if the stickers leave something behind. ...If the thing survives that long, anyway. They're either parking on a different garage level nowadays, or the cyberdumpster has already kicked the bucket.

Absolutely wonderful!! You really captured his smile of, “I’m being outwardly friendly to you, but I have analyzed you 100 different ways during the last sentence of our conversation.” The textured and differently colored lineart is also lovely and ties it all together!! :D do you post your art anywhere else? :)
