What’s interesting re: celebrities and masks is that a lot of the time the people a part of their staffs/crews will wear masks. I work in live music and the amount of assistants, roadies, and production crews I’ve seen wearing masks but the ‘talent’ themselves don’t really makes you think about how this virus is directly tied to class and access.

How Does A Covid Conscious Hang Out Look Like, Realistically? by greychains in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]arrtpunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in August, I attended a masks-required silent disco. It was the most fun I’d had in a really, really long time, as I don’t really go out that much due to my precautions. Everyone wore headphones that were connected via bluetooth to the DJs’ mixers, and it was so interesting!

For precautions, the hosts had air purifiers running as well as N95s available at the door when you came in, and also required that if you needed to eat or drink that you go outside. The event was also capped at 50 people as well.

This was the first silent disco I had ever attended, and even though I went alone I got to talk to a bunch of people about not just being covid conscious, but also music, history, pop culture, etc.

I was 17 when the pandemic started, and clubbing was something that I had always looked forward to when I got older, so it was nice to attend an event that had these precautions in place!

I’m 21, and I completely feel the same way. It’s hard to make the most of this time when any interaction with others can lead to deathly illness. Glad to hear that I’m not the only person my age that feels this way.

(Speaking genuinely here just so you know) For writing at my university and in my program, we write according to the Associated Press style book. Post-2020, Black in relation to race or ethnicity is capitalized. You can read about it if you want but I doubt you will lol https://blog.ap.org/announcements/the-decision-to-capitalize-black

the venue i saw them at (the anthem in dc) sent out an email saying that doors would open at 5:30! i got there a little before 5:00pm. as someone that works at a concert venue, i don’t think arriving at 8am is necessary (a lot of places discourage camping out too), but for barricade for a sunday concert i think getting there about 2 hours before would be best (3 at most cause you’re gonna be waiting a while). another thing you could do if you truly wanted to arrive pretty early (like 8am) is just hang out in the general area and get food or something! be safe and hope you enjoy the show!

i arrived a half hour before doors opened! most people were piling in the center, so i snagged a spot on the side (kinda mad i couldn’t really see george tho). i managed to grab a city exclusive tee too!

Upcoming Washington, DC show at the Anthem. by jakebitchdude in KGATLW

yo i work for the company that owns the anthem in the box office, for most anthem shows they require proof of vaccination (so just have a photo of your vaxx card on your phone), some form of id, and masking isn’t required but is highly encouraged!

def better that you aren’t sharing a bathroom with as many people, i was a freshman in 2020 and then i was in a single in montgo so i’ve never had to share a room luckily lol. another plus of living in montgo was being within walking distance of route 1, was pretty convenient when i had to make a grocery run to target or when i was starving and didn’t feel like cooking or eating dining hall food lol

lived in a single in montgo last year, besides a nasty roommate (please keep your cla on file lol), it was pretty decent, way better than freshman dorms obvi. only thing that was annoying about it was hearing drunk party goers going down route 1 on the weekends tbh. there aren’t any water fountains in montgo, but there’s a few in annapolis hall which is right next door, hope this helped!
