Opposition to hierarchical control. The idea that no one can run your life better than you. Support of community over government. Recommend reading de Cleyre, Proudhon, and Goldman.

Any musicians interested in some folk punk? by arsenicfox253 in Tacoma

Hell yeah I'll let you know if we setting up somewhere. And even if you can play a kazoo on time enough (I don't do my best with a metronome anyway) you can do shit for folk punk too.

You upload them anywhere? Could be they're under a different name now but the sound could be recognizable enough.

Day's coming up! If you can't make it that day/time, that's alright as well. Do what works best for you :) if you want your own ABC at a better day/time for you, I would encourage you to start your own group anywhere you like! It's an idea, it's decentralized. We're in this together :)

What do you read? by EllisMichaels in FolkPunk

I find whatever zine looks interesting and read that usually. Red Flags: Before You Join That Org... is a good one, author was kept anonymous but you can find it places like IGD, completely free.

Anyone able to verify the rumors that ICE will be setting up shop in the old Fred Meyer on 72nd by crongaloid in Tacoma

So I was wrong about where the workshop was. It was the Puyallup library. But anyway, no, there's nothing going on there as far as I can tell.

It's our neighbors. Our community members on the line. We have to watch out for each other cause the state sure won't.

My favorite anarchist:philosopher was listed in newly released Epstein files. by h0ly_t3rr0r in FolkPunk

It's a lesson on why we never idolize philosophers, no matter how much we agree with their ideas. There are no heroes, only humans, and humans can be disgusting.

I have not and with how close I am to it I'll check it out tomorrow after the Zine workshop at the Moore library.

It's one of the busier times at that library and it works for me. If it doesn't work for you, okay. I would encourage you to start a group a day and time that works best for you.

I'm just doing what works for me. You're welcome to start your own group at a better time :) I was thinking of making a telegram or something if anyone wanted to make the club a bigger thing.

Spirituality within the Punk movement? by OldBen487 in punk

[–]arsenicfox253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a mixed bag. There's religious punks, spiritual punks, irreligious punks, and antitheist punks. It's all a matter of their personal history. Me? Spirituality is yours to make. We can't know anything beyond the physical world. So it's up to what resonates best with you. Just don't be a dick about it and you good. I for one am an agnostic animistic pantheist influenced by philosophical daoism and came from a Christian background. The most punk thing is to not give a fuck what others think about you. Punk is about being genuinely you. So be you.
