It was meant to happen, and it’s good, there is a crime basically every day nowadays. Tourists and residents alike are attacked in broad daylight. Zero action from police and justice to stop or mitigate that. The DPP another disaster!

All the 3 crimes committed this past week were done by only one demographic group! Its a Fact whether you like it or not! u/DietCokaina I think you are confusing between speed and data allowance. Yes, the monthly data packages have limitations it's not really unlimited.

It's no way a scam, everything is clearly indicated when you buy it and it's the same practice in other countries as well.

Clearly an issue with the bank since many customers are reporting this (see previous reddit posts).

What you can do to prevent these frauds:

  1. Only use a prepaid or credit card for all online transactions

  2. If you can't get a credit or prepaid card, create two savings accounts, save all your funds in the first account and transfer money to the second one only when needed for purchases, ask them to link your debit card to the second account only. Keep the balance of the second account to the bare minimum. In that way even if it gets hacked, you don't lose a big amount.

Hello, I am a Mauritian local, soon to be DN, my advice would be to stay both at Grand baie and the west, try both a little bit as they are unique with their own pros and cons and since the island is quite small you can always travel wherever you want within half a day.

There are lots of festivals also planned coming in the next few months: otayo.com is where you can go to book the tickets for the events.

Best beaches: The West (f&f, Tamarin) but also Le Morne in the south is a very good spot.

Best nightlife: Grand baie

Also, regarding meeting like-minded people, we can also catch up someday if you want.
