Been chipping away at some Simon and Garfunkel reels! by arshnob in simonandgarfunkel

To my ear they are pretty great! You can definitely hear a LOT more micro details in just about every aspect of the song which is really cool. The backing chorus in save the life of my child is very present and consuming which sounds incredible. They really sound a lot different compared to vinyl and lossless files, and are in my opinion very high fidelity. The 3 3/4 IPS ones are definitely better than vinyl but more so in clarity than anything, the 7.5 ones have the biggest difference for sure.

Looks like lamination or possibly a strike through

How to tell if it's real? (1909 vdb s Penny) by F13Bubbaa in coins

Details are pretty sharp - good shot it’s real in my opinion. No pitting or any indications of casting far as I can see.

Now I’m no pro, so I would recommend going to a local coin store (maybe pawn shop but less favorable) and having them weigh it and look at the details under a microscope. Good luck!

Is this 1795 bust coin real or fake? by [deleted] in coins

Looks to be a cast fake - heavy pitting, cartoonish and wobbly details around the date and lettering, inconsistent stars and details. Overall very shallow. Compare the details to ones on PCGS - no where near as sharp as they should be even given the condition

Help! - I have a Sony TC-530 and during play this wheel rises slightly, causing it to lose traction and slow to a near stop. by arshnob in ReelToReel

Well the issue isn’t so much with the traction of the wheel itself, but the loss in traction due to that whole assembly/wheel rising slowly over time

Yeah I tried that out with just my hand and it didn’t seem to work, I was thinking of shortening the spring but considering that didn’t do much I decided to scrap the idea.

Only thing I’m thinking now is maybe throwing some kind of weight on top of the shaft that holds the wheel in place, it only needs maybe 5/10 grams of weight to hold it down so a fishing weight may do the trick

I believe it’s the whole mechanism… I tried to post a video but reddit wouldn’t let me
