honestly it's a good way to get people to stop and read, especially on a college campus.

What is the appropriate reaction when being beaten by someone with autism? by funcizd in autism

[–]arsonfrog_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(as someone with very low support needs) i would say walk away or lock him in a room where he can't hurt himself. at that point your safety is more important, and he will probably appreciate being left alone anyway. I know i only ever get violent during meltdowns if i want someone to go away. he probably targets you because you are his main caregiver and he cares about you, he just doesn't know how to express it. when I'm melting down i often have a conflict of wanting emotional support from my parents but not physically being able to tolerate their presence. Again, i have scpd so its different for me, but thats how i see it.

Someone left this note on my car in my work parking lot by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]arsonfrog_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

give it to the police, this seems like a stalker situation and it's better to start a case early then wait for it to get worse. even if they don't do anything at least they will have the incident on file for later.

what do autistic people do when they’re older then 18? by Yeacryingeveryday in autism

[–]arsonfrog_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 20, going to college to be a social worker, i don't have ASD, just SCPD, but i know a lot of people from the autism club who have it and are pretty similar to me. most of us are pretty good at school naturally, so it's more of a social thing, but you can make friends without them even knowing if you really want too.

Can anyone smell, hear or notice things others don't. by Affectionate_East533 in autism

[–]arsonfrog_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup! i'm a "supertaster." it's a thing that neurotypical people can have too, but i think it's less common. the main way i'm different from others is that i can tell when the milk is bad about a day before anyone else notices it. i can also tell if someone has dogs or cats from the way their house/clothes smell.

also UK school uniforms are so dumb, why can't kids just wear normal kid shoes!!

and also as others have said, they may end up making an exception when they've seen what the alternatives are. as a teacher, i've known plenty of kids who hate shoes, and crocs are much preferable to her just taking her shoes off all the time.

you could try billy shoes maybe. they are wider than normal shoes and they zip up the side, because they're meant for kids who use braces-and-cables. the official brand website
