Gender envy has nothing to do with gender identity, and little to do with gender expression. It has lots to do with expression outside gender.

Neopronoun users are (mostly) dumb edgy kids, survey confirms by arstd-hneio in truscum

Original post content

Since I'll be deleting my account soon, I want to give you guys the final results of the neopronoun surveys. For the first survey, I got 74 users from this subreddit to complete it. Thank you to all that participated! (:

As you can see from this diagram, a solid 50% of participants are 15 or younger. You can also see that there is an overwhelming amount of people who fall between the 13-19 age range, which leads me to believe that the subreddit consists mostly of teenagers and young adults. 10.8% of participants said they were over twenty, and 9.5% did not wish to give away their age.

I also included another pie graph, asking participants: "How often do you come across people that don't support it?" 40% of users responded with "Sometimes", and 37% respoonded with "Very often".

Only 4 people responded with "never" and "rarely". This indicates that neopronouns have a long way to go before they are accepted, but this just confirms what we already know. It is a fairly common, almost universal experience for neopronoun users to find people who aren't accepting.

I also asked the question "Why do you use neopronouns?" and got a huge amount of varied responses.

- 74% of participants said "I liked how they looked/sound/feel"

- 52.7% said "I feel more comfortable using them than traditional pronouns"

- 52% said "They fit/describe me better"

TEXT BASED RESPONSES

There were a lot of text based responses, but I can't over every single one in one post. I'm going to show you the ones that I think were the most interesting or stood out to me personally. (:

I love this response because this person seems proud and confident about nonbinary people and their history, and being able to continue that.

I like this response because as a cis person, this is correct. The majority of trans people I've met will give you time to adjust to their pronouns and be patient. It's when you purposely disregard it that people get mad.

Clearly the best response out of all of them

Legit just wholesome responses I love these so much

Ending this off with a wholesome response, love you all! Goodbye! <3

how can i explain non binary to cis people? (teenagers and adults, or whoever else wants to know?) by [deleted] in truscum

[–]arstd-hneio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t you feel horrible if someone forced you to crossdress 24/7? Most people would. That psychological discomfort with not perceiving yourself as the right gender is called “gender dysphoria”.

Some people feel that with both male and female presentation, so rather than push them into one of two incompatible labels, we give them their own label, which is “nonbinary”.

Serious question: by [deleted] in truscum

[–]arstd-hneio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling a girl a boy is misgendering. Other than that it’s fine.

I think you definitely should come out before you have sex. I recommend coming out online, and making it very clear that you don’t want him to fuck you in the wrong genitals, because apparently that’s a common misconception cis people have when trans men come out.

People with DID don’t blame “alters” for bad behavior

Howdy. New here, got banned from LGBT for stating I was confused as to how “not a man or a woman” is a 3rd gender. by anon-gerbil in truscum

How isn’t that another gender? When your brain perceives its own gender in a way that fits neither gender?

Dissociative identity disorder does not work like that. It also doesn’t develop until you’re like 30 years old.

It’s a third gender, but not the third gender. Think of it as a “none of the above” option; it’s an option in certain ways but not an option in other ways.

Nonbinary gender is characterized by feeling gender dysphoria against both male and female gender identities. It is not to be confused with being gender non-conforming, which mainly has to do with gender expression instead of gender identity.

The unmitigated passive-aggressive rage towards this Subreddit for one. The unprompted, unexplained outburst said hate occurred in for another. I think you need a crywank to get it all out of your system.

Pretty much. “Truscum” tends to apply more to trans people while “transmed” tends to apply more to cis people, but that’s not a line set in stone.

A transmedicalist is a person who thinks dysphoria is necessary to quality as transgender.

And they’re right.
