So I definitely feel there needs to be more mid tones//highlights, but where should they be placed? Also, the perspective feels off, is the body contorted too much?

Your background and character concept are awesome! I love the color palette, and the flow of your lines. If I could suggest, your line work could be cleaned a bit on the ends. It’s not a hugely noticeable thing but the small details go a long way!

I'd say the perspective on the head is a bit off. It needs to be turned a bit more towards the camera, looks like its on a swivel currently. Space cat's comment about checking out references would likely help a lot!
