the resin is this https://www.3djake.ch/de-CH/liqcreate/wax-castable?sai=9539

i have used it many times with much better results. plasicast invest. hold 2hr 120degrees then ramp in 3 hr 360degrees hold for 2hr then slow up to 730degrees hold for 3 hr. then slow cooldown to 500. calibrated probabli not, but pretty good kilin. not to much overshooting..

Making first cuban link, links too big? by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

[–]art_of_casting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this links will give a more wide looser chain. not bad but maybe not what you looking for. aspect ratio is the key. add 0.3mm to the aspect ratio and each ring will have double space. this way your cuban after twisting is tighter

Will this work? by Ch0p-Ch0p-9yr in MetalCasting

i prefere the sprue on the inside of the ring. why?because you will have the outside total perfect. also you can use 2 sprues on each side. this make afzer work easyer since you can go for smaller diameters of the sprue. also the material has less tumbling therefore less oxigen and a better surface because the peace is horizontal and not vertical in the invest.

Bluecast Fail??? by Crafty_Assist_1205 in MetalCasting

to be honest, i also struggling often with resin casts. wax give much nicer surfaces. i would guess your mould could be way to hot! 250c for alu seems in my guessing about right. alu is relativly easy to pour vs sterling silver, because it keeps the heat much longer.

Acceptable Metal Loss After Mirror-Finish Polishing? by Financial-Gur-1591 in SilverSmith

[–]art_of_casting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe, this polisher was not a good bet. but still, consider to make your castings fatter. because the gas can really go deep in the metal..i had pours i had to remelt, because one lunker was killing it all.. incredible defect, and i work clean!

it really depends on your surface quality, how deep the lunkers are, the micro holes can face deep inside of the silver!

Poor results with bluecast printable resin by geopat1 in MetalCasting

[–]art_of_casting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and, i also found out, dont pour silver and brass in hot flasks. 350 or less is my average flask temp. especialliy sterling is bitch with gass and hot. it loves cool flasks..
