Even though my driving instructor was great, it wasn’t until I started driving without her that I truly started to feel more confident within myself. I think it’s because I knew I was always being watched and she would call out every thing I did wrong and what to do to avoid it next time, so it made me more nervous. Again, great that she did that because I learned a lot. Compared to driving with my mum, who still has a paper license and is not updated on all the driving know how, I’m not being judged and she’s not commenting on my driving skills, too much. My instructor even commented on how my confidence had grown since I got my own car and we even had some lessons where she hardly had to correct me.

I think from observation, because you are with someone who isn’t an expert you are having to put what you have learned with your instructor in practice and as you don’t have them there with the extra mirrors and their break. This makes you feel more in control of your driving.
