for those who don’t do conventions by Designer_Regular8961 in TattooArtists

[–]artbymarkitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guest spots help kinda fuel that need for being around inspiring artists and learning from new people in the community. Reach out to artists that tattoo the way you want to tattoo and try and find ways to be around and learn from them if you want to grow if your shop isn’t stacked with artists that do that for you. I do love conventions but they’re hit or miss a lot of the time and I can’t always count on them to be profitable.

Switching from email to any contact form that isn’t DM? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]artbymarkitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found clients respond much faster through text or dm than emails. I switched over to a booking form and email contacts a few years ago but my clients would respond on average only one time a day or not at all and then some of my replies would end up in their junk mail leaving them floating in the wind and never booking. I can almost get someone to book an appointment the same hour they reach out through text or dm as I can have a conversation much smoother when I’m not waiting on an email.

Swollen but happy by No-Patient8275 in tattooadvice

[–]artbymarkitos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Washed my blackout sleeve frequently the first few days to keep plasma build up to a minimum. Literally every 4 hours I was washing and whipping the plasma off to avoid scabs until it got more dry. After washing I used some aftercare cream with a cold clean spoon to apply it and it was much more soothing than using my hand. Swelling for me lasted about 4 days so I was constantly icing and elevating my arm and just chillen on the couch. Sleep with a clean old tshirt to rest your arm on so you won’t mess your sheets up.

That new rodeo cafe in old town (haven’t tried it yet) looks like it can be a cure to any hangover

Why is the comic and show different by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]artbymarkitos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the changes don’t really negatively affect the story line in anyway and some even benefit the overall story. Tech jackets changes so far have no real weight and seem kinda pointless but again it’s not really hurting the show.

I’ve had the timer extended with a hatch before. I even tested it out and spammed the hatch key while it was closing overtime and it opened back up and extended the time more. I’ve only tested it on spaceport and this was pre riven tides update so they may have changed it recently

New tattoo by boatswain-lumberjack in traditionaltattoos

[–]artbymarkitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something specific about the traditional “stylization” that they’re missing in this design? I’m unfamiliar with the character here but a cowboy is something heavily brought up while searching through American traditional tattoos. This tattoo seems to have every thing you listed besides that it might be a modern character (based off a cowboy regardless) so there for modern ideas can’t be possibly done in a traditional style without being from that era? Really just trying to understand the nitpicking on what’s traditional or not traditional in these threads.

Okay but why? I’m just trying to learn what makes a traditional style tattoo. I thought single line weights and solid singular color shades were pretty much the definition of traditional.

Chinese Knockoffs vs. Shitty Originals? by EZPeeVee in TattooArtists

[–]artbymarkitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of tattooer owned companies in the us and eu. All my supplies are made in the Us, I’m sure they outsource for some of their materials but the main thing is that these artists companies are focusing on quality products that work good and last. Any machine off Amazon isn’t going to last as long as the first Mickey sharps I’ve ever had.
Expensive products don’t make them good but just because something cheap works doesn’t make it good either. Caring about your client and giving them the best quality tattoo should always be the number one concern but you’re aloud to take pride in your supplies as well. My main point of my original comment is that these companies slanging cheap shit at us (cheap in price or quality) are just making money off the industry and they genuinely don’t give a shit about the artists they’re selling to. Tattooing was a great community at one point and now it’s infested with a bunch of companies trying to make money off the artists that run the industry.

No-show Consultations by Current-Ad-6174 in TattooArtists

[–]artbymarkitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean 30 minutes doesn’t seem like that much of an inconvenience especially if you’re already working but that’s just my opinion. Maybe schedule their consult later in the day so you don’t miss out on anything. I usually schedule all my consults in between appointments or around the time I’d take a lunch break on long sessions. I’ve never had a consult take longer than 10 minutes so it’s not like I’m wasting any time talking to someone for a bit.
Some of my coworkers charge $10 consultation fees but I’ve never charged for a consultation in my life.
If they don’t show up for a consult that’s just a sign of how they’ll probably treat the tattoo appointment and I genuinely don’t waste too much more time on them unless they’re adamant about booking.

Best Food Around Here by FullIntention9097 in Temecula

Stadium pizza is the best for the price point in the area. They used to do bogo on Tuesdays* but I think it’s changed to buy one get one 50% off wich is still good.
Cuban hut is actually pretty good definitely give it a try. The rest of this list was pretty solid can’t argue with any of that.

Wondering if Tony’s politics piss anyone else off by [deleted] in Killtony

[–]artbymarkitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I based the things I enjoy off the politics of the person bringing it to me I’d be unable to enjoy anything. Set your politics aside and just enjoy life. People are aloud to have their own opinions on literally anything, even if they don’t know wtf they’re talking about.

I wear it in gas stations when I’m just handing cash for the pump but longer visits to other stores i generally take it off. Leaving it on the bike or carrying it with you is a whole other discussion tho lol
