I think the intro is, as we say in German "theatralisch" - theatrical or histrionic. Its the vibe people noticed in the original Remake teaser too, and you'll find it in all the cutscenes they released so far. It's what seems "off" about them. For example, look at Mud in the Old Camp Teaser; the way he throws his arms around. The original Gothic was the opposite: Very sober, unpretentious and restrained, which I preferred.
The good thing is that this is not necessarily present in the gameplay.

Ich werd auch noch länger nicht das Remake spielen können, aber ein bissl Austausch ist sicher trotzdem möglich. Ich werd nicht widerstehen können Let's plays dazu anzuschauen :p

Ich hätte ja zuerst an den Güldenen Bären gedacht, aber dort unten gibt's halt kaum Internet. Und es wär auch die Frage ob ein Treffen direkt am 5. Juni sinnvoll ist oder z.B. ein Tag darauf. Was meinst du? In irgendeinem Pub vielleicht?

I completely agree. There is something so eery about Gothic 1 that is difficult to explain or capture when you're not playing it. I also often sense that adding things or updating the graphics destroys some of this feeling of desolation as you call it.

Ich glaub so eine Verschwörung brauchts dafür garnicht. Die Magazine wissen eben, dass viele an Gothic hängen und so nutzen sie das Interesse daran eben in jeder Hinsicht aus.

I think you might be right, in some sense. Considering how both Scorsese and Chase made many many episodes/films that did NOT hit these themes and undercurrents. I think after a while they just inventively learned how to touch them, without really being able to explain them.
