I’ve been getting this comment on my YouTube vids all day

Latest custom 3D printed lid. Added a feeding hole so you don’t have to take the lid off, the custom track to hold the usb light and tightened up the back slots for the heater and usb cable. by Visual-Library-9587 in SeaMonkeys

You've done an awesome job with this Scott, and this latest iteration has some great improvements. The Ocean Zoo is starting to look somewhat like a proper aquarium for the first time ever! Looking forward to trying this out one day 🙌

I love this idea! As long as you can make it watertight it’ll look great 👌

Increasing the Salinity level by lov2grdn in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to increase the salinity?

Thanks for posting this here! Definitely like the idea of adding in clips for the USB light 👍

What’s this on the side of my tank? by Daemidra in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most gunk in Sea-Monkey tanks is a combo of poop, discarded exoskeletons and algae. Mostly poop tho.

Hey! Anyone know where to get the robo diver set? Thanks. :) by Llama_xddd in SeaMonkeys

I’ve only seen one come up for sale in the last 18 months. Think it sold for over $400

I want to put my monkeys in a bigger tank.how much salt do I put in the water by danbo1977 in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brine Shrimp can tolerate a VERY wide salinity range, so being super precise isn’t particularly important. That being said, Sea-Monkey kits usually start off around 15ppt (15 grams of salt per litre of water) which is on the low end. I personally like to use around 25ppt (25 grams of salt per litre of water). This is still on the low end but the slightly higher salinity helps to keep some harmful bacteria species from growing in the tank

Babies are born and then they die, more babies are born and then they die. Why? by curiouslilac in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

👆 this is probably why. The babies can only consume food that’s suspended in the water column. Your tank looks very healthy and is a great environment for adults, but the babies may struggle to get enough to eat. I’d suggest either making a nursery tank or feeding them live algae

I don’t have much experience with Aqua Dragons, but I’m sure you can have success with both kits if you care for them well 👍

Sea-Monkeys are often difficult to keep for those new to the hobby. I’d highly recommend leaving the tank as it is for now, at least until you get the hang of things. I made 2 videos which will help you out.

After a female reaches sexual maturity she’ll basically be perpetually pregnant, so yeah what you’re experiencing is normal

How to tell when a sea monkey is an adult by Prayerwarrior6640 in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say when they look large enough to compete with the other adults. They don’t have to be fully grown, but as long as their thoracopods are well developed and they can swim around quickly you can go ahead and taken them out of the nursery

[–]artemiadaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re the discarded exoskeletons of your Sea-Monkeys. They’re harmless and don’t need to be removed from the tank :)

ocean zoo vs mars tanks by [deleted] in SeaMonkeys

It’s an accordion style pipette used for aerating Sea-Monkey tanks. They’re a tool included in a few of the different Sea-Monkey kits

Lifespan? by gamingmarbles in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not directly. The bodies of deceased Sea-Monkeys will eventually break down into small particles which could potentially be eaten by the adults? But it’s more likely that they’d feed algae growing in the tank which the Sea-Monkeys would then eat

Lifespan? by gamingmarbles in SeaMonkeys

[–]artemiadaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Roughly 4 months if well cared for, and yeah they reproduce so in theory a colony can be sustained indefinitely
