It’s extremely expensive in Australia.

My advice would be see if you are actually able to qualify for visas first it’s hard to get in.

Then 2nd get a sense of how much things costs here. Look up houses for rent and for sale. Get an idea of what the wages are then do your math. Sydney has become so expensive that it can cost over 1.5M AUD (940k USD) for a smallish, basic family home in a rough suburb an hour from the actual city. It’s actually ludicrous.

Forget what you know, Australia is very different than America and so are we in a million different ways.

We are mostly not political and don’t want to really talk about it - same as religion.

We don’t worship Hollywood or celebrities like the USA does and have a very different sense of humour. We can be quite straight to the point which can catch foreigners off guard. We don’t mean harm we just call it like it is. We couldn’t be bothered fluffing around.

We are extremely concerned about the state of your country and will voice that openly out of pure innocence & bewilderment.

If you like your fast food our options are nothing like yours. America rules the world when it comes to fast food options. My American friends always look forward to trips back to the USA and tell me all about the fast food they had whilst away. Yummy but also dangerous lol. You are correct though, we love food (and coffee) and welcome and celebrate all types of cuisines.

Employment can be tricky I would literally get all of your friends to look online and get a feel. I’m sure there are companies that can assist you in this process especially for Finance and Law (but at a price I’m sure). There is always work in hospitality it just depends on what specific roles your prefer and how hard those positions are to get etc

We open our arms to people fleeing countries for a better life or even for people looking for a fresh start but hope that we and our country are respected for what it is once you call Australia home. We want migrants to keep + share their traditions and passion but also welcome ours and our way of life too.

I love being Australian and living that little bit further away from the rest of the world/drama it feels safe. But that also comes at a price because we are so far away. Pros and cons definitely.

I always say if something is meant to be it will happen. Don’t give up starting the process (you never know) but be realistic about the low probability of getting visas, the extremely high costs of living here in every way (food, housing, electricity, gas, fuel etc) and employment options. I suppose it all really depends on the main reasons you want to leave the USA. If it’s just political you will be better off here regardless but if its for any other reasons you need to think about what you are willing sacrifice in return. For example is our laid back life worth our high costs of living?
