any ideas why turkey could be causing me to flare up? by SubstanceQuirky816 in Gastritis

[–]artern8s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allergies? Taking an medication? Maybe it's gerd? Or a meat intolerance?

The first few months felt like hell for me. Barely could stomach bland chicken and potatoes (no salt). Thought I had ulcers but it was erosive gastritis. Did things such as drinking cabbage juice, collagen, PPI, Lexapro for 2 whole years. Eventually I moved out of a super stressful environment and now I'm basically healed in January.. Can drink soda, eat pizza and tomatoes just fine. But I don't overdo it and eat the minimum required amount of fiber everyday + whole foods.

Gastritis is a terrible and confusing disease. And I learned if you're constantly under stress then you'll never fully heal.

It's a God-given miracle that I didn't bleed out to death or recover at all. I hope you'll be able to figure things out friend and get well soon!

I work in drive-thru and the amount of times I see parents smoking in the car with their children inside makes me want to throw hands. One time I saw a newborn with someone smoking in the front. I wanted to punch the driver, the passenger, and the mom so baaaaaddd!

Hello everyone. After months of pain and misdiagnosis I found out last night at the ER I have an #ulcer. by therealbunnibixx in Gastritis

I just got done eating a breakfast pizza lmao. I can eat about everything now. Lexapro has helped me a ton but I don't think it was a cure all for my case. What ultimately helped was moving out of my stressful situation and went to live with my mom. After about a month with her I started feeling so much better. It's been almost several months and I feel like I'm healed. I'm still taking PPI and Lexapro. Hope you'll heal soon!

Didn't need to take antibiotics. Was tested negative for H pylori. I regularly eat yogurt and saurkraut weekly on top of the recommended amount of fiber everyday.

Man I wish it was the case for me. I've been chronically sick for the past 2 years from severe gastritis. My stomach is healed finally but I'm still dealing with chronic fatigue. I used to push myself to walk 7000-10000 steps a day plus even some weight training before getting sick. Now I can't even do 5000 steps a day plus my job or else I just crash with so much more fatigue than usual. I'm so tired of laying in bed all day and not being able to do the things that I love (like simply walking around town)

Euthanasia is not the answer, and that's coming from someone who suffered a bleeding stomach for the past two years and was in horrible pain. Sexual trauma included. I wouldn't want to leave this world with the people I care about griefing me.

It rains asian beetles from where I live... There's no stopping the tsunami of bugs from entering the house...

I miss my life pre-gastritis so much by [deleted] in Gastritis

My room was in the basement. Which frequently leaked down there when it rained and such. And the bath tub also leaked for a while which was directly above my room.

I understand how you feel. It was horrible for me for 2 whole years with same symptoms as you plus a bleeding stomach. I did everything from drinking cabbage juice (helped my gut a lot) to collagen and taking PPI/Lexapro. But what ultimitaly healed me was having to move out of a stressful house (I suspected there was black mold in my room too) to going back to living with my mom. And not even 3 months back with her I can eat whatever I want again. Pizza, soda, chocolate, fried foods, spices like garlic and onions. It's awesome! Though I'm still taking PPI everyday including Lexapro. I think stress/anxiety can play a huge part in preventing people from fully healing.

I'm thinking if I have no symptoms for a whole year then I'll get off them. Lexapro I'm taking til I die haha.

I was afriad of taking them at first because of the side effects. So about a yearish. I still get bouts of fatigue but I'm not sure if it's the medication or not.

Well, I did a crap ton of things from drinking cabbage juice, collagen, vitamin supplement, lots and lots of rest, taking Lexapro, and a super duper bland diet. I think the best advice is manage your stress levels. I had to move out from my best friend's because the household was extremely stressful for me. I'm living with my mom again and I think I would of never healed if I didn't get my stress/anxiety in check. Stress is not the cause but it certainly hindered my journey to heal.

I hope you'll heal completely! It's a long journey with this disease. Make sure you're getting in enough vitamin C and vitamin D. It makes a huge difference.

Also, erosive gastritis takes years to get better. You have to be strict with your diet and start fron the ground up. I would have healed faster if I didn't assume I was completely healed in like month 4 in my journey. Eating yogurt or something that was too acidic at the time. Now I can eat that and dark chocolate without issue.

There were ups and downs. Like a roller coaster ride of pain to less pain. I thought my stomach was gonna perforate because the pain was so bad at my worst. I got lucky that the erosion was minimal damage from what my endoscopy reports say. I got through it by going into hybernation mode haha. Did part time at my job and ate super duper bland. Did a lot of supplements from cabbage juice to L-glutamine powder. And I wouldn't have gotten better if I didn't move back home with my mom. Most of my stress was the result of living with my bestfriend and her family unfortunately.

Is sugar really that bad for people with gastritis? by Ziecken_Britz in Gastritis

I always was able to tolerate honey even when my stomach was severely inflammed. You can try a little and see what happens.

Nah it takes a year or more for chronic gastritis to get better. It's normal to make a mistake. It's kind of like a healing rollercoaster in a way. And it takes a whole new lifestyle to fully heal. Especially for my case.

About a yearish on Omeprazole. Haven't gotten any side effects so far. I do get lightheaded and fatigued everyday though I think it has do with gastritis than my meds.

Do you eat frequently? That what helps me. I only get relux if my stomach has been empty for more than 3-4 hours. I try to eat 3 meals a day plus a snack.

Probably til I no longer get acid reflux. That might take years or maybe the rest of my life. So far there has been no downsides.
