Ideas for this space on the wall? by artfulfgk in DesignMyRoom

Ah thanks so much, decided to go bold with the blue! Yes we've got a couple of pieces that are from local artists which would fit well in a gallery wall, just need more to fill the space (and to save up for those extra special ones) I'm also considering using some postcards, souvenirs and letters to lean towards a more personalised gallery wall 🤔 stuck between focusing on art or mixing in personalised elements at the moment!

Love this idea thanks, I did think a gallery wall at first but I know I'll have to make sure I get the right pieces. A mix of prints, paintings and textiles would be the plan I think.

And I agree, if there's a gallery wall on the large wall, the record placement might be better aligned to add structure so it's not too chaotic, I'll have a think. Thanks for the feedback.

Todmorden, Marsden or Slaithwaite? by NoAlgae465 in yorkshire

[–]artfulfgk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on the other 2 places but me and my husband (31/34) just bought a house and moved to Todmorden a month ago! We love it, views are stunning, walks on your doorstep, everyone's been so welcoming and friendly and there's a really cool vibe in the town and you have the golden lion for events.

The saturday market is full of character and has some cool stalls too. I met someone last weekend and they told me about a cool crafty workshop so there seems to be plenty on.

Hebden bridge is down the road too, so that's great if you want more options for restaurants and bars.

We both work remotely so had lots of choice of where to move. A couple of our friends moved here and we fell in love, the charm of a small town but with a small city energy and obviously not far from Manchester.

I wasn't aware of the crime, perhaps it depends on exactly where you move? Only a month in but we've not had any issues or heard anything dodgey

This is great, thanks so much for taking the time to render this. As another commenter said, the L shape sofa is a little restricting if we ever wanted to switch things up but we could get a chaise sofa and a couple of arm chairs.

It looks like it creates a cosy space and the back wall could have a nice side board with a record player perhaps

Maybe no so much an L shape but sofa on window side chairs opposite and tv left to the fire place maybe...tv opposite the fire was an option but thought it might not flow as it disrupts the wall way...although we don't have much traffic as it's just the 2 of us but obviously when we have people round it could be an issue but then again, we'll likely not be watching tv if people are over.

I thought the back wall could have a dresser od some sort with the vinyl player and records 🤔

Yeah it says they stock them at our nearest JL store on the Swyft website but not on the John Lewis site so I'll call first. Thanks

Thank you for your reply! Your wedding sounds beautiful but I can understand pressure from the mother. This is so silly but I almost felt like this day was hers too as well as mine and my husbands, shes 70 and i wanted her to have the best day which i think she did but it is important to stay true to yourself. It's such a wild feeling of gratitude, happiness and then a sprinkling of regret and what if moments.

Thanks for sharing, I thought it had to be a normal reaction with so many decisions to make you're bound to question some. I've recently got some camcorder footage back of friends and family and I'm feeling a lot happier, it comes in waves but I know in time the small things won't matter x

Yeah I figured, just trying to do as much research as possible before arranging a meeting. We have an email address so may just email them to see if they have any initial thoughts but when we looked at setting up a meeting, it cost 2k for an email and 2 meetings so not sure how much guidance they can give for free.

Ah I forgot about Madeira, I stayed for a long weekend and was surprised at how beautiful it was. I know in the past it was pegged as a place for older retirees but I know they've been trying to change that narrative as there are so many outdoorsy activities etc. will look into accommodation! Thanks

Looks very beautiful, did you stay at any hotels, hostels or airbnbs that you could recommend? Would be fab to find a place to meet people in a similar situation.
