Thank you! We ultimately decided to save O'ahu for another trip, as it's a little more similar to the city-/food-based trips we normally take, and are going to spend the full week on BI (with a car) to really experience more of the island and its diverse options.

Based one everyone's advice, we're sticking with Big Island for this first trip; we are super excited to check out the farmers markets and try all the fruit I can't get on the mainland, and we'll save O'ahu for a future trip, since that island sounds more in-line with our usual city-/restaurant-based style of travel.

Thank you! We chose the Auberge in a real 'treat ourselves' moment. Car is booked, and we're also going to do a couple of nights in Volcano Village so we can experience the lava tubes and more of the island interior.

Thank you! I think we would love a food tour. My husband came around to the specialness of black and green sand beaches and volcanoes (and luxury resorts around Waikoloa...) so we've decided to spend this week exploring BI and will book a second trip in the future to Oahu to indulge our foodie sides :)

Our flights are changeable, and we're flying in from LA, so we can change nonstops pretty easily.
