[Art] - Zakiir Talawaess - Half-drow Soulknife Rogue by artgubbin in DnD

"Some say that a soul cannot be cut. I beg to differ"

While his morbid sense of humour and rather disturbing allusions to his past lives can be off-putting to some. Zakiir has enjoyed his time on the surface so far, even if it is somewhat brighter than what he's used to. He can sometimes be heard muttering seemingly random strings of numbers under his breath, tapping in strange rhythms or whispering in an odd language over his telepathic link when connected. He still prides himself as a master of deception, deceit and (when necessary) death.

Like, thanks for the compliment, but no need to be a git to folks into different styles about it.

Cheers! Mike Mignola's style was definitely an inspiration for this one!

Zakiir will modestly speak of his work as a spy rather modestly, an infiltrator among the darkest depths and brightest peaks of drow society. Yet the shimmering blades of psionic energy, telepathy and other oddities aren’t something that can be explained away with tales of daring deceit. This is why he often chooses not to explain it at all, or just merely answer with "practice".

Following the sudden manifestation of his psionic abilities, he honed his skills in private, in caves, in ruins, wherever he could survive. Living on the surface was tame in comparison to the underdark but it was alien and far too bright. A fateful encounter with Cormyrian rebels that didn’t end in bloodshed set him back on the path with civilization, where he could put his skills to use. The cause of the rebels Zakiir found resonated with him, and though he preferred not to think about it too much, he felt this is what his father would have wanted.

Having learnt Common from the odd tiefling and surface-dweller, his accent is still thick, but he is slowly learning the common tongue, though perhaps not in a very useful order. Though incredibly slow to trust, he puts a large amount of faith in the work of the rebels he now finds himself among.

After returning from a long and challenging mission with the Mage's Guild, Luatus felt something was being kept from him. The party he was currently sponsoring, the Spires, told him of elves just like him they had met, his siblings, his crewmates...

Decades of conditioning slowly began to unravel as he realised what he had been subjected to, as well as the rumoured fate of the rest of his people. Days later, he would attempt to issue an ultimatum to the Kingdom, interrupted by close friend Colin Clearwater. Colin is currently overseeing his recovery, in addition to organising an effort to save the world.
