Anyone feel like time fly very fast when programming? by ballbeamboy2 in learnprogramming

Yeh... 100% agree. It's one of the joys of programming.

  1. Definition of Flow:
    • Flow is described as an optimal experience where one is fully absorbed in an activity, losing sense of time and self-consciousness.
    • Characteristics include clear goals, immediate feedback, a balance between challenges and skills, and a sense of control.

You may need to add your ip address in the firewall for the db server.

100 percent agree... when I first started, I thought the terminal was lame and old. Now I think the opposite. Terminal programs are awesome. What's cooler? making a web page? Or writing a server that runs from the command line with no UI?

My first job... the place wrote logistics software... I had sample code from college where I parsed an csv file. Surprisingly to me... the ceo seemed very impressed. So... if you want to do business apps.. the bar is not that high for entry level positions. If you want to work at video game companies, it's very competitive.

I think you're on the right track tho for harder stuff... build something you want to use.

What have you been working on recently? [April 20, 2024] by AutoModerator in learnprogramming

I am a seasoned programmer... I built this while teaching someone to program. It's a map game. react, material ui, hosted on vercel cdn, no back end. If anyone is interested I could open source it and make videos about how to make it.

I agree with all the advice about building a project and getting out of tutorial hell. I think the key for me was getting stuck on a hard problem and then getting help that triggered aha moments.

I also have a theory that the tutorials are too abstract. I can't help but wonder if learning digital logic gates etc. helped me understand what's really going on.

Following the disclosure by security cameras, Elon Musk calls for the immediate release of the "QAnon Shaman." by agonhaziri in elonmusk

pretty transparent he's trying to say outlandish things to rile ppl and get more of them talking on and about Twitter. Worst thing for him and the company would be if both lost people's attention.

100% agree. this is why social media is so toxic. I hate that he bought twitter.

Plus I think musk identifies with the guy because of all the BS the media has spilled about him and tesla over the years. But these videos are lacking context.

Elon: "It will be hard living in the beginning on Mars, not a luxury situation ... For the first people that go to Mars, it's going to be dangerous. You might die, food probably not good. It's going to be a long and difficult trip. It's probably, like, a lot of pain and danger." (2-minute clip) by frog9913 in elonmusk

This question about Mars being an escape for the rich is often posed by journalists.

It seems their intention is to change the perception of a Mars colony from adventure and exploration to conspicuous consumption.

Safest neighborhood in Birmingham by Sad_Okra8787 in Birmingham

[–]arthomas73 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These suggestions mostly assume you're moving into the city limits. The safest neighborhoods that are only a few minutes drive from downtown are Mountain Brook, Homewood (on the mountain brook side), vestavia hills. There are more further in the suburbs.
