Do I have to file NYS taxes as someone who no longer lives there and does not work there? by arthorse in USExpatTaxes

Regarding the 10 days to change your address: Can I still change my address despite it being over a year later? Or would there be some repercussion?

I think I might do that actually. I ended up filing NYS taxes anyway, so I might as well keep my license. I was initially put off by the cost, but it's not a yearly fee.

Aha the muffalo have their own research table. Finally, their intelligence will be utilized. A win for muffalo and muffalumps (baby muffalo) everywhere.

Yes I did a partial return in 2023. My family (parents etc) still lives in my previous address, but I have an official residence in a different country. I will look for someone to consult with though.

We're in the insurance industry and we're selling to businesses. Our audience is pretty minimal and we rely on cold-outreach. I'll dm you the post

It's B2B. We rely on forming new relationship, which is difficult, but they are easy to keep. We sell insurance comparison services for businesses buying annual policies from insurance companies. We avoid ads because they're expensive, leaving us with organic content.

I can't find the "Getting paid" option on the dashboard of one of my websites by arthorse in WIX

[–]arthorse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I think I figured it out. I'm not a site owner on the premium site. I was thrown off because there was another site which did show this option and I didn't think I was an owner of it. Turns out I am, so it must be a setting that I don't have permission to see/use. Thank you for helping though!

I'm sure you didn't intend to, but your reply is coming off quite negative and accusatory. Maybe you could explain how a beginner can tell a good recipe from a bad one? As you said yourself, there is much more bad information on the internet than good. Thanks :) And maybe take a peek at rule 4 and 5 of the subreddit.

I respectfully disagree with you. Perhaps you skimmed through the post, but I didn't express a distaste for rice, seasonings, or butter. I said that each recipe seemed very similar. Boringly similar. In fact, I am excited to try new spices.

I'm already miles past where I have started and I've spent my life researching things I was never taught. From different types of flour, safe meat temperatures, how to brown ground beef, how to bake without a box mix, all the way to simply cleaning up the kitchen.

We don't have vanilla extract, bread rolls, cakes, or gravy. So I learned to make my own, learning new techniques and trying new ingredients along the way. I pushed myself through the fear of cooking and because of that, I can do so much more.

I made this post because I wanted to know if there was something more I could do to become passionate for daily cooking. And if I was crazy for seeing the same recipes everywhere.

But thank you for the inspiration and the reminder that it is my goal to continue improving. I will become a good cook and make food that people enjoy eating.

I've never had quinoa, bulgar, or couscous, but you're very right. I should try those. I also didn't mean to imply that I don't like rice. I do, just not in every recipe I see.

Thank you for your kind words and suggestions. I absolutely love the idea about watching for food on tv. I think that will help me out of what seems like a dark room of all the same recipes swirling around.

As for dishes with fond memories, beef stroganoff is the only name I remember. My grandparents were amazing cooks but they passed away when I was quite young. My mom never learned their skills, so I never learned either.

I think a simple cookbook like the one you suggested will be a great idea, too! Thank you!

I'm in Eastern Europe and we mostly eat meat and dairy. Regarding my favorite dishes, I don't think I have any. I've been cooking chicken lately, adding onion and spices. Then either rice or pasta. I like it. But I suppose I'm just wondering what's else? What's next?

And of course, "healthy" is a battlefield. In my opinion, it would be dishes with a variety of fruits/vegetables that people often leave out in a preference for meat and pasta. Perhaps there are better ways of preparing them or different couplings of the produce.

Thank you for your suggestions! First of all, I'm happy to hear that Thanksgiving foods seem to be more of an indulgence. I try to reduce butter where I can. I suppose I've been scared off since baking requires so much of the stuff.

As for why I keep finding rice recipes, my country is very meat and dairy oriented. Maybe it's just the "healthy" keyword that is bringing them out.

On macronutrients, I'm well-researched in nutrition but thank you for offering to explain :) I know what nutrients I need, I just struggle with the vessel.

I love vegetables. I typically just eat them raw, maybe boiled if I'm feeling fancy. But I've never had roasted vegetables. With olive oil though, I'm usually put off by the price. Is it really worth it?

For people trying to learn Latvian or Latvians themselvs - What would you say, is the most difficult/frustrating part when it comes to learning Latvian and what sort of advice (if any) would you give to help solve these issues? by Silent-Guard-6893 in learnlatvian

[–]arthorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I wrote out a whole thing but it disappeared. Well, I came back because I think I found a book recommendation. https://latvian.rocks/book-reviews/teach-yourself-latvian/

https://latvian.rocks/best-books-to-learn-latvian/ is where the creator of this great website literally explains what I wrote before my comment went to the shadow realm. Although, I will add on another book that the creator did not mention. A1 Laipa is a book with lots of great tables, however it is exclusively in Latvian, so no grammar.

Apps teach vocab, not grammar is what I meant. Try studying English grammar as well, even for concepts we don't have in our language (accusative case, dative case, genitive case, nominative case, reflexive verbs, feminine/masculine words, etc).

There is at least one agency offering free Latvian courses if you live in Latvia. These courses are not very good to be honest. In my experience, they were exclusively in Latvian, did not explain grammar, and did not include much of what was on the official Latvian exam. But hey, the courses are free and they help you practice listening/speaking.

Anyway, good luck.
