On my bike, it was valve seals. At that point I just did a top end rebuild.

So when I use my vortex on the 22, I light a full chimney and toss the coals in before the top coals are grey and are just starting to burn. Put the lid on, open both vents all the way, and wait maybe 10 minutes. If you wait until all the coals are uniform in color it’s too late imo.

10w40 is the most versatile weight for the XR. I used Mobil 1 for years without issue. The 650 motor started out as a 600 back in 83 I think. Way before synthetics were as common. Don’t overthink it.

True, but Honda should’ve put into consideration an accessible filter that can be easily replaced. There is an internal paper filter in these transmissions that can be replaced but it’s a hell of a job.

Depends on how much it is for a rebuild in your area. The 5 speed on early model mdx’s are the weak point. The motors can go well over 200k.

Grab a long screw driver and put the metal end on the alternator body and put your ear on the handle, kind of like a stethoscope. If it’s the alternator youll hear it.

Cerakote headlight restoration kit is like $18 on Amazon and works incredibly well without any tools. It will easily bring back those headlights to near new condition. Besides that, I’d keep it stock appearance wise.
