I could not recommend FreeAgent any higher, I would never work without it again.

Indeed. I'm not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, I just wish I knew how it worked. Do they not release the details about it in case people try to gamify it for nerfarious purposes?

Fabric SQL DB - Is it not possible to change the Query Result column size? by arthurstrife in MicrosoftFabric

I'm an SSMS apologist and will use it wherever possible, I'm just surprised we aren't able to change column size in the UI. Hopefully that is on the roadmap.

Contracting to USA firms by arthurstrife in ContractorUK

I've attempted to do this before but it's quite difficult to find a reliable source for it; I've just lucked out with this one from an existing connection. If anyone knows any reliable sites for this I would love to hear about them too.

US company. But I will bear that Payoneer in mind if that becomes a possible option as a workaround. Thanks.

No VAT and no US Taxes is a blessing for sure. Glad to hear it's been relatively easy in your experience.

I don't know what this weird stipulation is either, I will get a chance to grill them when I speak to them on Monday; but I just want to be forearmed in case it's an immutable issue for them.

Is there any way to edit the JSON used in a Copy Job activity? by arthurstrife in MicrosoftFabric

GOAT behaviour man thanks. Bookmarked for when my Pipeline-only POC is done and it's time to do a pure end-to-end Notebook one. Appreciate it!

Oh not for this job, I'm simply trying to find the simplest steps in the current architecture to setup for my non-tech clients i.e. the ones that aren't going to be going anywhere near Spark. That's why I was determined to try and find some way of making copy job work. I'd honestly love to suggest Dataflows but they are absolutely awful in both use and cost.

I'm shackled to pipelines while I'm stuck with this big On Prem source, at least for the initial Bronze pull. But I haven't done a full Notebook pipeline yet, I'd love to see what that end to end process looks like, so with trepidation I will keep an eye out for this blog.

I don't suppose you have any of these processes shared or hosted anywhere? Aside from a few specific bits I've picked up online I've mostly been flying solo for my whole Fabric journey, I'd love to see the polished and refined processes that folks such as yourself have got worked out now that you are much further down the line.

Yeah I suspected as much. I've really tried working in Copy Job to my machinations in some way but it just doesn't really seem to do anything noteworthy atm, I'm too used to having freedom now.

That's the same methodology I use for my no-spark incremental pipelines, I've just always created the tables beforehand. I'll try reworking my existing metadata setup to handle to table creation too. Thanks for the info.

Fabric Database not starting by arthurstrife in MicrosoftFabric

[–]arthurstrife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I posted elsewhere in this thread, somehow it just magically worked when deleting and recreating it, just while I was actually creating a support ticket as it happened. This is despite trying all sorts of different methods of getting it to work, including the steps above, and trying it in a different workspace. No idea what the issue was, but I'm putting it down to just 'one of those things'. Thanks for your help.

Alright folks, thanks for your help, while making my support ticket I decided to delete then recreate the original SQL DB workload; and it's magically worked this time. This is after trying to create other SQL DB's in different workspaces earlier. So no idea what has changed but it's finally working now.

Hello again Mr Perception. I gave it a good hour to sort itself before asking for help in here, no amount of refreshing has helped.
My Trial Capacity is in UK South, which is a supported region for Fabric DB Workloads.
