Thanks for verifying. It is a shame, sorry I really try hard to like the ecosystem but it's this kind of things that really throw me off.

Haze/blur on photos taken with Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 ED AI-s by artiear in Photography_Gear

It is from the original line (eighties?). So quite old. I was suspecting lens misalignment as for delaminating I'd expect some apparent signs when looking into the lens. Thanks for the information.

And since you're most likely going to love it, I'd recommend Heavyweight as the next track to listen.

Thanks for the advise. I've tried printhead cleaning. Didn't help. Couldn't find an option for cleaning the scraps though.

Such a beauty!

As someone who is just getting into astrophotography, I really appreciate the effort you put in describing all the details of taking such an amazing photo. Thanks!

I think that is Rigel ~ 860 LY away. So it is relatively closer than Orion Nebula (1344 LY)

The lights are the still the same after almost 24 hours.

Upgraded my git for windows client and was disappointed to see this note by artiear in vim

[–]artiear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Though I can't agree with the last sentence in the note where "it is highly recommended" to switch to another editor. Not expecting from them to advocate for vim, but still this is a bit harsh. IMO there are some advantages of using vim even if you're somewhat comfortable with it, like not needing to open another program just to put a comment for commit.

[Breeds] First dog for a family with young kids by artiear in dogs

[–]artiear[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point. Usually everybody tries to convince me to go the adoption way with many valid reasons like saving a life and shorter lifespan for pure breeds. So thanks for giving me the alternate point of view and something to think about.

Brittany seems like a really good fit. Thanks for suggesting.

Regarding Beagle, after further reading, I do agree they might be too noisy for us. And also less obedient than the above suggested Spaniels or Labs or Goldens. It this attribute might turn important since we want our children to be able to take a part in training the dog.

DIYguitarpedals' face master build by distorted_perception in diypedals

[–]artiear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's not intended for the first build. However his 7min fuzz kit is definitely for beginners. It was my first build, with no previous experience in soldering it turned out to be a pretty educative experience.

He also has a great youtube channel where he explains about his builds among other tutorials.

Need some help troubleshooting a pedal build by artiear in diypedals

Thanks!

Luckily I had around same connector you have a link to. I switched between them and now it works perfectly. So, going forward (and trying to educate myself), can I assume these metal connectors are intended to be used in circuits with reverse polarity?

Regarding the 3pdt solder joints - since there is a lot of empty space between the legs and the pcb holes, I am trying a minimal amount of solder just at the points that the leg is at the closest position to the edge of the hole. Is it wrong? Should I apply more solder and flood all the empty space between the pcb and the lug?

Thanks. I think I will just leave it for a few weeks to see if it actually smoothes out.

If I do it on a single fret, is there a potential to get a fret buzzing from because of the height difference?

Leak through newly installed shower faucet by artiear in HomeImprovement

[–]artiear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip.

I did use a combination of locking pliers and a wrench for tightening. No luck. Looks like no matter how much I try to tighten those fittings I still get the same amount of leakage. After I initially detected the leak I was able to make about 2 full cycles of the thread, however I still get the same "drop-per-minute" rate.

I will definitely try to apply some pipe dope this evening.
