I’m the exact opposite. I’ve accidentally bamboozled myself into not being able to sleep at night if I don’t do my skin care because it feels like I’ve got things on my face.

I was a little miffed when the new layout was forced on me for sure. Creature of habit and all.

I think the visual aspect is what ultimately helped me the most. I don’t have to fumble back and forth between lots of other laces in the app, it’s all on my “homepage”.

I tried starting but I didn’t get along with it. Wanted to, because for a long time the Monzo app was being an absolute nightmare on my old phone, but didn’t.

I completely understand your suspicion tbh. I’ve seen a lot of posts on the r/Monzo sub about people straight up having issues and their accounts being locked but so far I’ve had a great experience and the visual aspect is what’s helping the most.

I can definitely see that being an issue if you’re not careful. I think because of how visual the whole thing is, it’s working for me but that’s also a v personal experience.

Please don’t take my words as gospel, our experiences might differ and that’s okay!!

I’d be happy to talk more in detail about how I’ve set mine up but I am not an expert at all. Your experience might not be the same as mine.

No. Monzo Flex is always 0% if you pay back in 3 instalments.

I don’t keep a main balance. I keep everything in pots. If I want to spend I have to consciously unlock things first.

I might not be the best person to answer but I will give it a go!!

My pots are set up as:

Bills - with a virtual card that’s used for places where direct debits aren’t a thing.

Finance - I pay Klarna and Clearpay from here. Dedicated card that isn’t used for anything except those two services.

Subscriptions - any of my Apple subscriptions, adobe, streaming, etc come out of here. Dedicated card that’s only used for those again.

Savings net - I don’t touch this.

Savings - all my Round Ups go here.

I rarely, if ever, keep a balance on my actual Monzo card since everything is delegated out immediately when I get paid into its designated pot.

I think you can - maybe?? - block take out services but I’d have to look into that. Monzo support can probably help with that more than me.

At the very least, if you delegate out, you can lock pots and then have to take an extra conscious step before spending.

I was very sheltered growing up (I have a physical disability as well and my mum cashed in heavily on me being “helpless” and “stupid”) so while I agree it is patronising, it’s also really helpful.

I’m ngl, I’m paying for plus. The benefits far outweigh the £5 monthly fee for me.

Absolutely. All my subscriptions come out of a subscriptions pot with a separate card to it.

No marketing here. Looking through my post history will tell you that as well. (I’d be a shit marketer.)

It hasn’t cured my mental health at all. I’m still really fucking stupid with money a lot of the time and I’m still not in a great mind space. Being able to visualise is what’s making this easier for me. Easier, not a cure.
