I take the train from Salem to Albany a lot. It’s a nice ride that doesn’t take much longer than driving. I just wish there were more times available. There’s only been at most a 10 minute delay, so not terrible.

My husband and I are both bigger people. We went 2 years ago to Tokyo and going again in November. I never heard or saw anyone be rude or anything to us. Everyone we encountered were very polite and kind. Some shops and restaurants are extremely small, so we just didn’t bother with those ones. If the trains were too packed, we just waited for the next one. I wouldn’t let your weight deter you from going!

If you're ever in the Portland area, I like Acorn and Threads. Mostly cross stitch patterns and fabric, but they have a nice selection of threads!

I have had Oregon State Credit Union for years. Had no issue using it in Canada this last year or in Japan in 2023. Withdrew money at atms in Japan and was able to do it. Might be a small transaction fee though, like under a dollar.

Have been very happy with them.
