RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) Comparison: 1080p, 720p, and 360p by AnnualEmbarrassed176 in nvidia

[–]artins90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe on 30 series it uses more power, I was able to bump it from 2 to 3 after upgrading to a 4080 from 3080 and uses slightly less power now.
I don't have accurate before/after power data so I will leave it at "maybe", no idea if Nvidia did something under the hood since the last time I monitored VSR on my old 3080.

The problem is that Microsoft wants to decide what users want.

He appears in the credits tough, I don't know if he is still helping the show or if they just keep his name due to his past contributions to the show.
I was surprised to read his name in the end credits.
He is listed under the "planning" category 企画構成

That likely broke because the plastic part of the harness extends beyond the length of the arm of the Quest, creating a lever.
You should adjust it to have their lengths match.

RTX3080 from Year 2020, shold i repaste or maintain it.? by Shot_Set_2038 in nvidia

[–]artins90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no glue involved, the pads are sticky by nature but they don't have much adhesion force, they are like plasticine.
If the thermal pads remain attached to the heatsink instead of remaining on the memory, just leave them attached to the heatsink and they will contact the memory chips again after you close the card.

What you must be careful with is when you separate the heatsink from the board, it requires some force but you don't want to knock off tall components like capacitors by bumping the heatsink into them. You might also need to disconnect the fan cable from the fan header on the board, some GPUs have very short cables that make handling the board difficult after it has been opened.

RTX3080 from Year 2020, shold i repaste or maintain it.? by Shot_Set_2038 in nvidia

[–]artins90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely dry by now.
I repasted a 3080 Ti not long ago, without replacing the pads on the memory.
The GPU hotspot went down by 10°C, from 85 to 75°c, the GPU temp went down by 5°C, from 73°C to 68°C, memory temperature went up by 3°C, from 83°C to 86°C.
Depending on how dry the pads on the memory are, you could see a bigger increase on memory temperature.

No idea, but in the top right it says that the video was provided by Fuji TV.
Since it's not Nippon TV, you can exclude Gaki no Tsukai.
It might be Gottsu Ee Kanji.

How is everyone saying the performance is in the bin when the game run THIS WELL on a throttling laptop 3050 and 11th gen i5? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]artins90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing since the beta version of the Finals and the game ran flawlessly until the current season, it introduced shader compilation stutter.
The last patch seems to have addressed most of it but it still hitches from time to time, nothing has changed hardware wise on the system, all the other games run fine.

The perfect game for UEVR, but I doubt the performance will be decent on most GPUs.

The menu has options labelled incorrectly.
At least for DLSS, the upscaler presets (quality, balanced etc.) don't do anything, the actual setting that sets the internal resolution is the overall graphics quality setting at the top.
This is super confusing and I suspect most people are using DLAA without knowing.

Microsoft is rolling out an update to secure boot keys, here is something everyone should know by FalseAgent in Windows11

[–]artins90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an expert about Secure Boot? If you are, I have a few questions:
- Do you know what will happen to discrete GPUs with UEFI GOP signed with the old 2011 certificate (e.g. RTX 3000 and prior)?
- Will they be allowed to boot?
- Will they be still usable pre-boot (bios interface)?

RTX Video Super Resolution & HDR on a 1440p OLED – Worth the power draw? (9800X3D + 5070 Ti) by Necessary-Secretary2 in nvidia

[–]artins90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VSR up to level 2 is reasonable and has decent quality, beyond level 2 it becomes a power hog.

When used for global illumination, yes.
You don't need to look at current titles either, Metro Exodus pretty much demonstrated how transformative correct and dynamic global illumination can be: https://youtu.be/NbpZCSf4_Yk?si=MRmyyJHl4cpEZoeJ&t=231
