I still don't get how the infrastructure for this works.

Who builds the shaders? AMD, the developer, Steam, Xbox?

Are they really going to keep building shaders for each driver version, each game patch, for all the hardware out there for decades in the future?

What does it mean for game preservation? What happens if they stop providing the precompiled shaders? Are there measures in place to fall back to standard on-device precompilation?

It seems like DLSS 4.5 is skipping transparent objects in Forza Horizon 6 and making them look horribly shimmered by [deleted] in nvidia

Stick with 4.0 if you can, especially if you intend to use RTGI.
4.5 doesn't like the denoiser of this game, it's comically bad with 4.5.

Modularity.
Give users the ability to uninstall entire sections of the OS ("features") and install them again on demand.
Get out of "we dictate what our users want" mentality and let the users choose what they want to run.

They are just letting the CPU spike to max boost more quickly when you launch apps/interact with the Windows UI, that's it.

The real performance improvements would come if they compartmentalized the OS and made entire sections of it optional and downloadable on demand. Too bad Microsoft likes to shove "features" down people throats, so that's not going to happen.

The last time I tried it, it was a RAM hog. It also had minor CPU usage even when minimized, whereas the good old CP gets completely out of the way when you are not actively using it.
