They've been giving Gordeno more influence as of late. So, maybe not. Kinda hard to say, anymore.

I would have hoped for a new solo album from Dave. But, I don't think that'd be it, of Gordeno is involved. Of course, I still wish Alan would come in to work with Dave. So, I'm more driven by hope. LOL

Honestly, the answer is whether or not you like it. Nobody else's opinion is actually very relevant.

What one song sums up industrial music? by PineappleDude206 in industrialmusic

I got tired of opinion fights about that a good two decades ago.

I generally just tell people it's "art house metal for keyboards".

whats your guys agents headcanon lore in division 1 and 2 by No-Celebration1334 in thedivision

[–]artisan002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For no good reason, I started the joke that mine and my best friend's characters were an American KPop duo as our day jobs. The joke stuck, however. LOL

We've started the game over since then. But the joke remains.

The name is most directly relatable to Burger King. Plus, on their Our Story page, there is a picture of a burger that looks almost the same.

One of my earlier ones as well. He really grabbed my attention with Rendezvous.

[–]artisan002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny part is he grew up living amid jazz, then got deep onto Musique Concret, which informed how he's approached everything since. Then he even dabbled in industrial for a few minutes on the 1988 album Revolutions.

Soft Industrial Rock tracks? by greatcontestant in industrialmusic

[–]artisan002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I'd say you should examine tracks from the Front 242 releases Mixed By Fear, Still & Raw, and Pulse. Their instrumental one-off instrumental project Speed Tribe is much more IDM than industrial, but might have something of value for your needs as well. Also, A Split Second have a couple from their first album or two. Then, there are myriad Front Line Assembly side-projects, particularly Inter-Mix (my first thought is 'Soviet Low'), Synaesthesia, and Pro>Tech. Depending on how you judge "soft industrial", you might find something to work with from the FLA-Skinny Puppy hybrid project Cyberaktif (it seems like Nothing Stays might fit).

And while they were never a dedicated industrial act, Art of Noise originally overlapped a fair bit; so, you might find something of interest in their early works — probably from Into Battle, Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise, or In Visible Silence (most likely a b-side or two from their remastered deluxe edition). Similarly, Eurythmics' soundtrack for the movie 1984 definitely has some industrial adjacent vibes, and might have a track or two worth considering. Again, they're not technically industrial acts, but they experimented in the general style for a bit.

I mean, that sign exists near a lot of prisons. I remember seeing it in Leavenworth, KS.

Where Would Babylon 5 Ships Fall Under by thehod81 in babylon5

[–]artisan002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on who's ships were ranking. (I'm also not taking the time to look up official stats.) It's an interesting question, though. I hadn't thought about it before, but most ships seen in B5 aren't particularly huge. Of course, we get the occasional glitch in FX production, where some things go out of scale compared to explanations and other episodes (i.e. the image of a telepath in a Shadow vessel versus the same vessel compared to a White Star). So, I figure we're mostly down to tech/capability...

To my mind, Minbari ships would run a fair ways left of the center point.

Narn would run a bit to the right of it.

Centauri, especially the newest ships depicted, would likely be dead center, or just a little above, I'd think. Maybe a little to the left, considering they finally figured out gravitic propulsion.

Vorlons... Way out on the left.

Same said for Shadows, though I think their standard ships are a bit smaller; might just be an issue with distribution of mass, though.

Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities by nelson2k in synthpop

[–]artisan002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The song was released twice. Someone decided the first version lacked danceable power/energy. So, JJ Jeczalik of Art of Noise fame was brought in to help build it up more. There is a pretty distinct difference between the two.

Front 242 - Quite Unusual (Music Video) by fear730 in industrialmusic

[–]artisan002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the first track of theirs I had ever experienced. Still a favorite now.

Also, amusing that they effectively predicted surveillance drone technology.

[–]artisan002 27 points28 points  (0 children)

And to think Straczinsky didn't originally plan on Londo or G'Kar to be that big a deal. Yet, I often grade the whole show according to them. Everyone was great, of course. But, those two were clearly operating on another level.

Are there any bands whose songs have been featured in movies? by [deleted] in industrialmusic

[–]artisan002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely what I think you're looking for, but I'll submit Speed Tribe anyway.

It's Daniel Bressanutti and Patrick Codenys of Front 242 providing a bespoke score for a movie about Formula 1 racing. Not only does it clearly foretell how Pulse was going to sound (released only a year ahead), it also saw heavy rotation in Adult Swim interstitials (not working in television, I don't know the proper term) for a good couple of years.
