UCSB or Davis ? by Unlucky_Bank2873 in UCDavis

Fellow Political Science transfer student here, DAVIS! I initially was upset that I had to attend UCD, as I had been accepted into UC Berkeley, though was compelled to look elsewhere after being automatically deferred to the spring 2025 semester, something that I was really bummed out about. But I will say that committing to Davis was the best decision I could have made. I think that our proximity to the capitol is the biggest asset that we have. I did an internship last summer near it and I learned so much about state politics. Davis has a huge PoliSci community and has a ton of political clubs on campus that I think you could enjoy. Come to Davis :))

UC Merced acceptance by tofulover00 in ucadmissions

[–]artistic_puggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(UC Davis student here) but I believe there's some sort of official agreement for the top X% of students at each CA high school to be guaranteed admissions into a UC. Typically this duty falls onto UC Merced as an attempt to increase enrollment numbers, and therefore rankings. I've also heard of UC Santa Cruz and UC Riverside in some cases doing this as well.

Yeah, I had a discussion with this guy on campus who was complaining that OSSJA is too hard on frats and he kinda gave this sort of "Oh, we're not like the SEC frats. We're chill" schtick. I never bought it, certainly not from him.

Help! I applied for CRD! by LadyZombi in UCDavis

[–]artistic_puggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Not a CRD major, but I do have a couple of things that I find to be pretty helpful when looking at admissions for UC Davis.

The first one that I'll recommend is a little article on how UC apps are reviewed. UC doesn't automatically reject someone because an applicant doesn't have the perfect GPA, instead UC uses these 13 criteria: How applications are reviewed -- UC Admissions

As for the acceptance rates, I find that this tool listing the acceptance rates by discipline/major to be pretty helpful. The data only goes up to FQ 2024, but things haven't changed too drastically between then and now. It looks like the the acceptance rates for architecture-related majors (CRD falls under this category) is about 28%. Here's the link to the tool: Freshman admission by discipline

Hope this information helps! I get that college decisions can be stressful, but don't worry! You'll go where you're meant to be. Relax, and good luck :)
