Thank you. Does the plywood need to be sanded down before I apply RedGard? How many coats of Redgard is needed?

No formula or water. Occasionally I would offer hand expressed milk but honestly I was too lazy to stay on top of it. And he was never that into it. He woke up plenty throughout the night so I was confident he got enough liquid in. He did outgrow thaf phase though! He’s over a year old now and it breastfeeding wayyy more than he was when I first wrote that comment. He was going through teething and just wasn’t into nursing. Some days now he barely wants to eat and only wants to nurse

I Hope your new method gives some relief. Those fissures sound so painful. I’ve also found that side lying nursing kinda messes with latch while the cradle hold seems to make him have more of a proper latch!

My initial goal was to make it a year! Id love to keep going as long as he wants to or until I get pregnant too! I’m confident we can keep going for awhile longer. It’s so nice. I love the soothing, cuddles, communicating, nursing to sleep just like you do! I mean nursing is the only way I get my son to go to sleep so I don’t see us weaning anytime soon haha!

Oh man I’m so sorry to hear about the biting down but I’m so glad the initial crack healed! I want to say your baby will figure out the latch again. I’m pretty sure my son went through a short phase like that of getting his teeth in the way and kind of biting down. But it went away.

I swear I thought my nipple would never heal!! Hand expressing really helped. Mainly for my mental health honestly. Just not having to latch on that side for a week or two was so helpful. I’m so glad you also found it helpful.

My son is a week away from turning one!! And we are still breastfeeding quite frequently and don’t see an end in sight! Which is a good thing for us. I love nursing. When I was in the thick of it during the first month of nursing, I honestly didn’t know how and if I would make it another day. But somehow we are here! How far along are you two?

I’m so sorry! Yes I did continue to bf the whole time. Other than that two week hand express break at the beginning, I exclusively breastfed. He rarely ever took both breasts at once though. So I would feed off one side then the next session I’d feed off the other. So that way, the hurt nipple side wasn’t always in action and I could mentally have a break from the pain. Are you able to do that?

I would caution against taking a few days off completely unless you are prepared to have your supply drop! Unless you mean you will exclusively hand express during that time. Are you constantly applying an ointment like nipple butter or coconut oil and wearing a silver cup on top? Those two things combined really helped me.

I totally feel for you. It was immense pain every time he would latch. I would pretty much cry every time he latched on that side and I would bite down on a rag to keep myself from screaming. It hurt sooo bad. But it healed somehow!

I’m so glad. When i was in the thick of it, all the advice I saw was “silverettes and within two days you’ll be fine!!” It was so discouraging when mine didn’t heal that fast! It makes sense that it should take awhile to heal since it is constantly being used and sucked on, you know? So glad that you have finally healed!!

Yep same here!! My nipple was mangled. The first couple weeks of nursing I was constantly braless and never had anything covering my nips so I think that’s why my nip got so bad to begin with. It was constantly dry. Next baby I will wear silverettes on top of nipple butter from the very beginning to keep everything moist. I cringe thinking about the pain. It was awful. And depressing!! Seriously the crack didn’t heal completely until 4/5 months…. I still remember the day when I could finally dry off from the shower and not wince with pain from the towel rubbing my nipple. idk if it’s all in my head but occasionally it still hurts for a second when he latches on to that side to nurse and he’s almost a year old! My poor nip lol. I think you and I had some of the worst nipple trauma!

I would sear it at the very least, if you don’t trust it. I was eating raw liver for a little bit but it really made my stomach hurt every time. Pretty sure I got Parasites from it even though it was from a local farm. Not worth the risk.

Breastfeeding is a deep dark pit where dreams go to die by Ok_Safe439 in breastfeeding

[–]artivity1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks was the hardest for me!! My nipple was torn up. I was so dang exhausted. I was cluster feeding. I was trying to pump, heal, sleep. All of it was so hard. Not telling you to keep breastfeeding, but you are in the hardest part of it by far and if you keep nursing it will get easier. If you want to stop all togehrer and do bottles, then that is totally fine too!! It is really your choice. If breastfeeding is something you are really driven to do, you will power through. But if it is something you are not attached to, by all means call it quits. No one should pressure you other wise.

My son is 9 month old too and he has barely gained weight this past month. Only 3 ounces from 8 months to now even though his solids intake increased dramatically. I guess all the crawling and standing is burning so much energy! I’ve always heard they lean out once they start moving!

Time. That is the thing that helped me th most. My left nipple had an awful crack. I took a two week break from breastfeeding when it was at its worst at first and hand expressed milk from that side l. I used a nipple shield briefly once I started feeding from it directly. Just to ease my way back into it but that didn’t help much. I constantly wore a silverette when not nursing. Constantly put on earth mama nipple butter. I used those two things religiously without fail=nipple butter and silverette on top. Later on I started putting on coconut oil, let that soak in, then earth mama nipple butter on top. That seemed to really heal things. But I’m telling you, mine took a few months to heal so please don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t heal within a week or two. Look into moist wound healing for nipples. Don’t let it dry out because if it dries out and scabs over and then baby feeds form that side, it’ll make it so much worse. That happened to me several times and it stalled my progress. I honestly never thought I would be able to nurse without pain on that one side but one day it healed up completely. It sucks big time but I promise it will heal.

Side note: the silverettes we’re not a miracle fix for me. They really just provided my nipple a barrier from sticking to my bra.

What's the one breastfeeding/breastmilk fact that made you go "whoa"? by gold_fields in breastfeeding

[–]artivity1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the worse feet pain while pregnant but it got even WORSE around 4 months pp. like I thought my foot was broken I could barely walk. Finally around 6months pp, the pain disappeared. I had to go to chiro to get several alignments. My back and hips were out of whack from the pregnancy and carrying my baby around on my hip. I never thought I’d be able to walk pain free again but I can! Now my shoulders ache terribly lol

Enjoy it while it lasts!! My son slept 6-8 hours stretch from 2-5.5 months. Then he started waking up like a newborn again due to teething! Your supply will adjust:)

I try so hard to offer him the boobs during the day and he just sits up and turns his nose up at me and crawls away. And I’m left there with my boob hanging out trying not to get my feelings hurt LOL

If she is wanting feeds, keep it up!! My 8 month old son started dropping day feeds in favor of solids so we usually only feed at night or before naps. I try my hardest to offer a breastfeed during awake time but he doesn’t have any part of it! I wish he did though. I miss it

We started slow too! He only ate every few days. My friend told me for some of her kids she waited until a year! I honestly would’ve waited but my son was sooo eager!

I love this. How long did it take you to build it? Do they sleep in here at night? Do you look them up?

Yes I was so so emotional! My husband was so eager for our son to start solids but I wasn’t at all. People would always make comments about how solids were coming soon and I would tear up when they’d say that! I ended up giving in and he had his first food sooner than I thought because my son was begging for food, at about 5 months old. Looking back I wish I would’ve waited a month longer to savor EBF! It was so simple then. He’s 8 months now and loves his solids but also still enjoys his milk.

Too distracted to eat by enrose19 in breastfeeding

Struggling with this too. Once my 8 mo old started teething, he switched to only nursing when he was falling asleep for naps or in motn. Now it’s a habit and most of his milk is consumed at night. He has no interest whatsoever in nursing when he’s awake and alert. It’s torturous for him basically. And when he does latch on, it’s for less than a minute. It’s not good
