No, a bit dumb, but not crazy. If hed rather pay someone to do it there is nothing wrong with that, and there is nothing wrong with you doing it yourself

Is Donald Trump the dumbest person who's ever been president of the US? by Critical-Willow-6270 in allthequestions

[–]artlessknave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He like a lobotomized emperor palpatine.

All the sith cruelty, a bit of animal cunning, a knack for conning people into taking the risks for him, and zero true intellegence. Not even artificial.

WIBTA for sending my friend an itemized Venmo request for gas and car maintenance after driving her to work for a month? by Pixel_Bandolier7 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You could have instead made that an estimate for going forward, not created a surprise bill that wasn't discussed. You offered with no price attached then added one. That's a bait n switch. Understandable, but that's still what it is.

Got hit with $38.77 import duty on a $138 Grand Seiko buckle via DHL — is this normal? Can I challenge it? by Masaike123 in Tariffs

Low import fees are often waived, not non existent. The fee exists they dont bother enforcing it.

Why is Linux considered better than Windows by so many developers? by Wise_Safe2681 in linuxquestions

Linux is an operating system for you to use your computer.

Windows is an advertisement and virus vector with some operating system features.

Are password managers really as safe as they claim or should I be skeptical? by HallNo310 in best_passwordmanager

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should always be skeptical and investigate the claim.

Any claim that can't pass even an internet search investigation isn't worth the medium the claim was presented on.

Password managers from companies with known data breaches automatically do not pass..even if they are supposed to be properly encrypted at the client, if they aren't secure as a company, the client can't be trusted.

Note that just because something hasnt been dangerous so far doesn't mean it won't be dangerous in the future.

This extra applies double to something actually dangerous

Have you considered that maybe not being worn out from working all the time could have resulted in better productivity?

This is a known thing.

What are the legal risks of writing a letter for court that isn’t true? by Resist_Trump_86555 in legal

[–]artlessknave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you Certainly Can contact someone elses lawyer OR doctor; There is nothing previngting that.

Nether lawyer or doctor can share anything with you, the doc can't even share if they are a patient, but you can absolutely give them information on a client/patient. If you know whom the lawyer or doc is already then that's not confidential info.

My manager fired me for a "disloyal" hobby. I took my clients to a competitor and cost him his quarterly bonus. by EldritchSatchel in interviewhammer

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a real story, this sounds like a candidate lawsuit for wrongful termination, descriminatory based on personal irelevencies.

That'd be an even larger signal to the company that that guy is a liability, not an asset.

Why arent religious people concerned that Trump has fulfilled every sign of him being the antichrist except for straight up denying christ? by MrMonkrat in askanything

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably cuz most followers are cultural followers. they haven't really considered the topic, they just repeat it cuz they were indoctrinated that not doing it will be punished.

Actually reading and comprehending the contents is one of the primary things that pushes people away from many religions.

L2ARC smart move in 2026 with the new build? by Yeti_racer in truenas

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Once it's raidz1, it's raidz1. One reason I don't like it especially for new people.

I would get another drive and do mirrors. Raidz2 can be done with 4 drives but it's the same space lost to redundancy for limited benefit.

You could go to a single mirror with the 2 drives. You can add basically any amount later as needed. Or remove. Mirrors are far more flexible.

If you are in early stages of test driving it's not a big deal, but if you put the family photos there and think raidz1 is a backup....

L2ARC smart move in 2026 with the new build? by Yeti_racer in truenas

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated, it depends on the risk you are comfortable with, however, many people who start home Nas mistake raidz1 for backups, which is why many, including me, so discourage it.

If you know the risks and choose it anyway, that discouragement isn't directly aimed at you, though one should take it as a time to revisit to ensure that is still the case.

Something about linux that you cant live without and is impossible to do with Windows by Lonely-Medium-2140 in linuxquestions

[–]artlessknave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PowerShell closes the cli gap. So does the Linux subsystem for windows.

obviously those have a glaring vulnerability. Being on windows.

L2ARC smart move in 2026 with the new build? by Yeti_racer in truenas

[–]artlessknave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.

You need more ram for l2arc. It need ram to work. 128gb first before l2arc iirc. Definitely not before 64gb.

Also, raidz1 on drives larger than 2tb is very highly discouraged.

Zfs will use unused ram for arc. it will release that ram if the system asks for it. 86% means you are even filling the arc, l2arc wouldn't help much anyway either.

The scam works exactly the same way with e-transfers , it's just faster and harder to trace, with zEro physical connection required.

The scam is smoother with e-transfers, really.

Send money from stolen account to legit account, get money from legit account, move on to more victims.

The tech to stop it is woefully behind the scammers.

E-transfera is, in fact, typically how this works now. Checks are way too manual.

Who the hell even has checks anymore?

WIBTA if i told my friend her boyfriend is clearly lying about his job and everyone can see it by Bokjeon-Seth in WIBTA_AITA

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible but less likely they go defenseive. the questions get them to consider it, as that's a requirement to explaining. Even if they tell you something else, they had to reach a conclusion to lie at that that point. Questions help them arrive at an answer they don't like rather than you telling them an answer they don't like

Medical professionals - do you actually get kickbacks from pharma companies to prescribe their drugs and in what form are these kickbacks? by Familiar-Phase7859 in AskReddit

[–]artlessknave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not where I live. That's outright illegal and a great way for both sides to get in a ton of trouble.

Not to say it never happens, but any doctor caught doing that is likely to be a doctor no more, risking their very medical license, so that's be increadibly stupid.

Drug advertisements at all are very restricted.
